super street fighter iv confirmed for spring

stand-alone follow-up for capcom fighter to feature "about eight" new and returning characters, more ultra combos, enhanced online play.

Street fighter iv is ready for round two. When capcom's flagship fighting franchise returned from relative dormancy earlier this year, it was critically lauded for faithfully recapturing much of what made its predecessors great. Capcom today announced it will be keeping to another of the series' traditions, the stand-alone revamp.

T. Hawk spikes el fuerte's head like a football.

Where street fighter ii had its champion edition and street fighter iii received its 2nd impact, street fighter iv will be succeeded by super street fighter iv in spring of 2010. Capcom told gamespot the stand-alone game will arrive on the xbox 360 and playstation 3 with a handful of additions, including "about eight" returning or newly created characters, new ultra combos for the original street fighter iv cast, enhanced online play, balancing tweaks, and more.

Capcom also revealed two of the additions to the roster, t. Hawk and juri. T. Hawk debuted in the arcades with super street fighter ii, and is one of only two characters in that game (dee jay being the other) not already included in the console and pc versions of street fighter iv.

Juri is about to give m. Bison (vega in japan) a good old fashioned boot to the head.

The other confirmed character, juri, will be the first korean world warrior in the series, and uses an array of tae kwon do kicks to batter opponents into unconsciousness.

As a stand-alone game, super street fighter iv won't be compatible online with its predecessor. However, capcom has said that the game won't be a full-priced game, and the publisher plans to offer a special bonus to gamers who already own street fighter iv.

Ah, Its all good it comes at a discount price and owners of the original get an extra bonus:d

Its already won me over, but it just had to be Street Fighter to do that for me:p

Plus the changes they have planned to the game make it so they can't just add it as downloadable content to the old one which although sad shows they are going to be making it play differently again

Apparently the save system will be seriously altered and characters will have multiple Ultra moves

With the addition of at least 8 more characters to the already quite nice roster of 25 brings it up in line with other modern fighters as well

3 cheers to CAPCOM

Now I just need a confirmation its for PC as well:lol:

but isnt capcom forgetting that they have promised dlc for sf4, it seems to me they planned these mods as dlc but since they made allot of changes/updates in one go so like left for dead 2, they want to be the cash cows they are and make you pay more

They gave DLC for SF4 in the way of costumes!

This is more then a subtle update with new gameplay additions

Did you notice the "Revenge meter" looks different?

The save system is being rebuilt too which I hear is the biggest reason they couldn't do it as DLC as originally planned

Don't forget its a discount rate game and owners of the old edition will get an extra bonus

Don't get me wrong, I do believe they are sticking with there MILD update thing they have always liked to do with SF but most dedicated SF players I know will be more then happy to pay for it

Back in the Genesis days I spent a lot on SF games

Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition cost me $180AUS on release but I was still more then happy to part with nearly another $200AUS for Super Street Fighter 2 when it landed a year or so later

Another thing to note is the first release of all previous SF games have not been the best ones so a little refinement here and there will help to create the ultimate SF4 experience

Street Fighter 4 : Third Strike anyone?

I was waiting for SF4 to hit the bargain bin but this sounds like a plan as well.

Man, I really hope it comes to PC. Also, any word on new stages? The 4-5 stages that are in SF IV, got boring fast, IMO.
Yeah, they have promised of at least 4 - 5 new stages

Also BONUS STAGES WILL BE BACK

They have all but 100% confirmed a car and a barrel round

Just waiting for it officially

so what, the dlc they promised was more than costumes, well at least provide a costume option like in soul calibur on psp so when you are online, at least then you can look unique....

so it looks like theres no more dlc for sf4, well i was against dlc from the beginning because the devs use it as an excuse to rake in more sales with promise of more content but as with sf4 and other games, they just release poor addons that you expect from a basic modder and then end it with release with modified origional game with extra content...

i'd rather ditch dlc and the crap it provides (well at least not for fallout 3) and give more something worthwile like a mod kit so some modders add more worthwile content

also didnt capcom say they were looking to stop making a rehash of games because that was an issue with the sf3 series

Don't wanna come across rude, but can you quote/link me to were it was promised we would get anything better the costumes?

I agree in regards to DLC being used as a gimmick, most devs are guilty of it to the degree now I no longer care what they promise unless it is in a new title

As DLC I suspect we would have got far less then what we will get and considering the amount of extras I doubt I would have been able to justify a DLC update at $50 for every 3GB I download with my ISP.

A new full game means I can avoid this issue with a release that will be on a disk I can purchase from a store

Seriously...

At least 8 new characters
4 - 5 new stages
A couple of bonus rounds (car and barrels?)
gameplay tweaks and new moves-sets/combos/balancing issue fixes
Major changes to the online mode

That is one hell of a lot of extra stuff for a download to be at a reasonable size for me to download and they haven't finished with the announcements yet meaning we COULD still be in for a shock or 2 yet!

One thing I have in mind is that the first version of every street Fighter was not the best, its always been one of the tweaked later ones that ends up as the popular one in the series (Sf2 has the crowd favs of SF2 urbo and Super SF2 Turbo, SF3 is without best in its 3rd strike version) and I am sure the same will be said of SF4 in the years to come.

I say tweak away Capcom, its your perfectionism attitude you have towards the game that has always made it the great game it is and I say why change it now when it works has history has proven.

This is the rumoured new character list for the game

T.Hawk
DeeJay
Makoto
Ibuki
Adon
Guy
Cody
Dudley
Juri (original, seen in the photos)
Hakan (an Arab fighter, also original)

Also its expected that all SSF4 characters will have 1 Super move and 2 Ultras with the exception of Sakura who will have 2 of each with the return of her ground fireball super move.

It is also expected that with the SF3 characters that are included will have the 2 Super Arts they had for SF3 tuned into the 2 Ultras for the game with there 3rd Super from the game remaining mostly the same
