strange problem with image

1065 Views 9 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  I-Chan
hi all, I have a worms armageddon image on my hard disk. If I try to open it with epsxe it doesn´t work. But if I mount the image with alcohol120% and I run epsxe from the virtual CD unit, it works. I'm using Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.6 video plugin. Can you please where can be the problem?

thanks

what did you make the ISO with? most probably it's an mdf/mds file, which ePSXe cannot read.
I've tried to do the image in different formats (bin/cue, mds/mdf, nrg) and none of them worked. When loading the image, I get a black screen but the emulator seems to work because the fan increases the speed. But I can´t see anything. Nevertheless, other images, like tekken3 (bin/cue), worked perfectly. It's a X-file ...:(

thanks

edit:i own the original CD, which i used to make the image. But I 've downloaded an image file of the same game, and it happens exactly the same.

Read the rules.

sorry if i caused you a problem :(
Nevertheless, i think i haven't brake any rule.

"Warez Policy

NGEmu takes a "no tolerance" stance against the trading/sharing/discussion of illegal software, also known as warez. Links to or requests for illegally-obtained commercial material, such as ROMs, ISOs, or BIOS images will not be tolerated. If you post in a forum for support and you are found to be in possession of illegal content, your thread will be immediately closed."

As I said, I own the game, but I'm dispairing of this problem. I haven´t ask for links or requests. I just wanted to know if the problem was about me and about making the image or something else. Now I know the problem is not about doing the image, there must be something wrong about the game emulation or the plugin or whatelse (that's why I'm posting).

If moderators think I'm doing something illegal, I'll edit or remove the message.

Under these circumstances, we do not provide support for d/led ISOs and/or CD Images. Besides, the ISOs/Images you obtained are of an unknown nature.

If you obtained a black screen using the original, did you try obtaining a ppf patch for it?

Though outdated, I hope this should help:

ePSXe v1.5.1, released on xx.03.2002

- Included partial support for libcrypt games. Libcrypt is a protection
scheme used very often in PAL games. It uses data in subchannel Q.
In order to play your original cd games in ePSXe you need a cdrom reader
which works with the read-subchannel routines in ePSXe. NOT every cdrom
reader with support for read subchannels will work in epsxe. If your cdrom
reader is able to read subchannels but it is not supported by ePSXe,
you can use clonecd to read the subchannel to a .SUB file, and copy it
in the epsxe\patches directory with the same name than cdrom PS-EXE
and with the extension .SUB (SLESXXX.XX.SUB/SCESXXX.XX.SUB/SLUSXXX.XX.SUB..)
Since reading from subchannel is slow, ePSXe includes an option in the
cdrom config window that you can enable to cache the subchannel to disk
the first time you run a game. Of course you can always use some external
cdrom plugins, currently only Pete's cdrom plugin supports it.
(The support is partial because NO every libcrypt game is working :(,
the no working games includes (at least) Spyro 2 and 3 PAL, and
formula one 99)

lol, yeah, finally!!!!!
there was no need to use an ppf file as the game is unprotected but I've tried another version of epsxe (1.5.2) and now it works perfectly.
Well, if someone has the same problem (black screen), just try another version, it worked for me
Thank you :)
That's pretty werid though.
I play my images through Mooby2 and using ePSXe 1.6.0 without any problems. (Except for certain issues with Sqaure-Enix games.)
yes, I know, it doesn´t make sense but it works
I encourage people with the same problem to try this (I read some people had the same problem, hope they 'll try this :))

I think it's clear enough, you even quoted it. Closing.
