I remember virtualdub was able to convert still images to video but i can't find a guide. Any suggestions?
I'd also like to insert animated text in that video if it's possible. I don't have Adobe btw. Something thrown quickly willl help.

I have a program for just that; its called Antechinus Animator Professional. Its shareware so you might want to... cough... take care of that .

The almighty mencoder can do the conversion, and I think it can use subtitle files to add text, though not animated.

It's rather hard to use, though.
