So that's what that build was for (you showed me the picture a few weeks back).

Wait, Squall-Leonhart can't build his own? Is this being done due to cheaper cost or something?

The build looks good, but the CPU cooler sticks out as a little weak amongst those parts. If you're getting 12GB of RAM and that kind of motherboard, surely you can do better than that on the cooler. Also, wasn't the GTX285 replaced by the GTX295? I haven't kept up with nVidia's lineup, but I thought that's how things went.

;) The cooler is more then capable. I've checked it out thoroughly (Besides, HT is going off right away, so there goes most of the heat)
The 295 is 2x GTX 260, its longer then the 285, and won't fit in the case. the 285 is the current single core king.

Can't say I would have done the same case. NZXT's are chinsey. The rest is nice, though. WTF are you going to do with 12gb of ram?
Virtualization projects which require alot of ram.

Video games are only set to use more and more ram, consider 12GB's well and truly future proof for a good while.

IIRC this will allow squall to increase his browser tab count from ~50 to ~200 while playing a game of Half Life 2 Cinematic Mods which atm require ~3.5gb ram

i can open 200 on 2GB's..... my virtual memory just starts crying is all....

By the time video games require close to that much you'll be on your 3rd or 4th computer since this build.

There are games out now, which you can CFG edit to load large cell blocks into physical memory. The more memory the better.

Wow, quite an impressive job. :) But please take into account efficiency and performance as well.

So far, I've only seen pictures... lol

I'm withdrawing pictures until I know it's the right time to pop some eyeballs. :D An mATX is one thing, a 4.5GHz quad-core inside is another. And trust me, that ain't possible unless you modify a case for your own use.

IMO, the market is missing... some innovative case ideas... I mean... it's either too large, or too small in one dimension. And then you're extremely limited in what you can get. :(

P.S.: But I give my seal of approval to that GTX 285. :thumb:

Efficiency was considered :p especially on the aspect of air cooling. The case has more then 4 120mm fan bays, and pushes alot of air around.

Until I see a 4.5GHz Core i7, I'll still say it's not efficient... enough. :p But the bays sound cool. 4 fans is quite impressive for an mATX. (or actually very impressive)

I'm kinda thinking about... mmm... something else. That reminds me, gotta go hunt for some copper in the garbage dump at some point... :innocent:

4 fans? HA! Im lookinng at sticking 6 in there, along with the rhobeus fan controller. it's going to be a virtual Tornado

Wait - so why couldn't he build it himself rather than have someone who lives thousands of miles away do it? It's not that hard, ffs; and I doubt prices here in the US are all that much different than they are in AU.
