Interesting.

If it can be done with a simple firmware update, hallelujah. If not...eh, PCSX2 is still going strong and my new slim PS2 should run for at least a few years :p

Which Chris? My name is Chris as well...
have you ever known me to use your first name Paratech?

I don't know everyone's first name here, only mine! :p

I don't even know Samor's first name! :innocent:

But I'll try to remember you don't call me by mine! :D
Hopefully the prices on 60 gb models will lower on ebay
That's what I'm waiting for. PS1/2 BC is essential to me, I won't have a PS3 without it.
You can snag one for around $500, depending on condition.

But youll have to move fast, once FFX13 and Gran Turismo 5 readies to be released, expect prices to shoot up again.
Well you might get lucky like I did and find some random guy selling his on Amazon or eBay without knowing how much his 60GB is actually worth compared to the "newer" models.

My friend got his at a pawn shop for $450.
In what condition? At least on ebay you can snag a new one
I got mine off of Amazon. It has a fairly visible scratch on the right side. (courtesy of UPS)

The one my friend got at the pawn shop was flawless, except for a bunch of fingerprints. Nothing a little Pledge couldn't fix. :)
I hate it when sites try and compare 2 pictures to each other by doing a screen cap and then putting the images "side by side". If one side is a screen cap @ 480i and the other is @ 1080p, then one of these pics was resized and doing so will introduce artifacts and bluriness (depending on the resize filter used). Who's to say that they only took a screen cap from the games as run on the PS2 and put a PhotoShop layer of half of the pic, adjusted the color a bit, and added some mild gaussian blurring? If they wanted an authentic comparison, both pics would have to be shown at 1:1.
Yeah your right, and I originally was going back and forth between posting/notposting the 1:1 res images (cuz i knew this would be said (and you are accurate in your complaint)) but had to make a quick last minute decision cuz i had someone shouting at me to get off the net and get something done, so quickly decided not to because it would mess up the page format of those who had <1200 resolution. 1:1 photos are however directly linked in the hotlink in that very post as a compromise.
It's OK Pickle!

I was referring to the pics on the site. Even those aren't 1:1. If they were, the 480i/480p pics would be at 640x480 and the upscaled pics would be at 1280x720 or 1920x1080.

I think the pics were taken with a camera on a tripod and then cropped and resized. This makes for a bad comparison when their article's major focus is the comparison pics. Ideally, a capture device that accepts HDMI is the way to go.

Whoa, where do you get your prices? I've seen many of them at right around $400, I've just been putting the money into my car instead of videogames so I haven't picked one up yet. I wouldn't pay more than $400 for a PS3, even with BR and SACD playback, it's still a ripoff imo
Brand New In Box PS3, not used lol.

And inform us wehen you drop that new turbocharger in ;)
I bouht my 60GB NTSC/UC with 6 PS3 & 11 PS2 games and lot of movies including MGS4 ,GTA4 ,Resistance etc from ebay it was in mint condition. I don't know where the seller got all the stuff but believe me it cost me 500$.
And i know i'm lucky one as for now BC PS3's are hell lot of expensive.
