Yes. I've tried out all of my old PS2 games and they all run flawlessly.

I've tried out a few of these same games on the 80GB software BC PS3 and ran into numerous problems with some of the games, hence my *and do it properly* remark.

Doesn't the hardware-based PS2 'emulation' just scale everything up? I.e.: Not a real improvement.

640x480 at 720p is still 640x480... scaled to 720p.

yup. All HDTVs have scalers as well, but lower end models probably don't compare to the ps3 upscalers.

Yeah but the scaling isn't very impressive. A software based solution like what PCSX2 has going on would be great if it had good compatibility.

The Xbox 360's emulation for example, while not having enough supported games, it actually makes the games run in HD, it's not just scaling.
