I had the same thing happen to one of my old computers (the motherboard in my case was crap anyway), and it turned out being a dead motherboard. I'm guessing putting in the new processor was too much for it and it killed it, which is why it won't accept the original. You mention the motherboard supporting up to an 1800+ Athlon XP, right? Putting in the 2000+Athlon XP probably killed the motherboard.ToM_E said:

ok guys...my friend gave me an amd athlon xp 2000+ so i put it on and turn it on but the monitor wont turn on....everything is installed perfectly...but i dont know what the problem is...can anyone help me?
EDIT: ok...i tried to fix it by putting my athlond t-bird on it but it still wont work..when it turns on i dont hear the beep and the screen just stays black...somebody help me...
