I just read about Dolphin and would like to get it going. So I've read the FAQs and started trying to understand what I need. My Wii is hard modded (if that matters).

I read I need to extract WiiOS from the main dolphin site. So I have searched and searched trying to find out how to do this, and I've failed. Googling 'wii extract WiiOS' is returning nothing of interest.

Can someone with some experience help me out? I'd be grateful. Thank you.

That isn't what I thought... I guess I'm still lost.

Now this ability will come with future releases but you of course have to use your own files from YOUR WII. We will not help you with getting the WiiOS.

That's what I read on the Dolphin site... it says 'files from YOUR WII' and WiiOS as if they may be the same things. So I'm guessing I have to get WiiOS and 'files' differently.

Anyone able to give me some advice? Do I need this Wii OS or just ISOs of my Wii games to use Dolphin?

Dolphin was able to boot (the original) Wii OS.

What is the Wii OS... I've googled it and it seems to be just an interface that looks like the Wii. How the hell would Dolphin 'boot' it? That doesn't make any sense, there must be something I'm missing.

You don't need the System Menu to play games in Dolphin. That's just a little toy to mess around with. It has no functionality other than to format memory cards in the emulator. Just load the games directly from the file menu..
