Well, I tried to play Silent Hill with ePSXe1.4, everything worked almost okay except two things.

1. when I pick up a map, the text message telling me that map is picked up will be totally messed up

2. When I try to save, it first says the memory card is not formatted, then ask me to format it. but after it says game saved, when I try to access the memory card, it will say memory card not inserted... strange... seems the game cannot detect the memory card after it saves on it...

For first problem try different settings in your gpu configurations.I am not sure but you must have setted something to very high level.

Memory Cards always create problems in silent hill so I didnt used them when I finished the game on my epsxe.Possible solutions was known to pressing F4 before saving and again after saving.
Better search for "silent hill" on upper right corner.

if u have a problem with savegames (memcards) just use the savestate function
