Recently, there has been issues concerning about SH4 doesn't work for PC, one it requires a dvd-driver, two.. there is a cd-protection error (please insert disk), and this problem I had when I try to run it..

Well, I have never heard of any of these problems before....firstly, i'd suggest poping over to the Konami forum, and then try a web search which should hopefully lead you somewhere helpful.

If I find any extra information regarding your problem, I will post it here.

r2rX: This issue was never actually solved, I've been to more than Konami forums, nvidia, game software, and all other communities that deal with this issue. Oh well, I returned it, I do know in fact, it's the game itself, not my precious 6800gt card. There are several PC games out there has alot of issues.. starting mostly with the cd-protection thing even with the original disk in drives.

doom: load what game patches ? think again, I'm always 3 or more steps ahead before I post this thread, go and find a decent patch that can fix it ? pffft.. tell Konami that, they never have much support for the PC fans, their more focus on the console concept.

daimyo konami, love you since the day MGS was launch, and now let most of the PC fans down over small issues that you couldn't possibly care to fix.

B.T.W, what are the chances they can write a simple patch for MGS1 that will update the game with the motion blur effects?

those problems are very annoying, it happened to me last week with vampire bloodlines, I came back from the store very eager to play it and after installing and patching the thing it didn't recognized the cd, after trying reseting, reinstalling, uninstalling virtual drives I just cracked the thing and it worked flawless.

I know it's forbidden but geez...

Lol, nothing beats the Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance "conversion." They basically just changed a PS2 DVD for a PC one. 8GB installation. :???: :???:

I plan on getting the Silent Hill 2-4 for PC though.

All these copy protections tend to harm only the people who legally buy their software. Look at all the Windows XP users frustrated with Product Activation. Or those games with obnoxious game protection schemes, which crash when they detect a CD/DVD burner on your machine oO

btw.. the issue with the " Insert cd " (cd-protection) error was solved.. obviously.. you just have to remove the Sonic DLA program, and everything should run good.

The thing is, we shouldn't have to uninstall any of our cd/dvd backup software just to play the games.

I use to have the same problem with Myst IV, but thankfully they released a patch, and I was able to play it.

I have no problem with copy protection, but they should make VERY sure that ppl buying their games won't have ANY problems because of it.

of course none is always better, my ut2004 dvd gives thanks to epic to this day.

cd protections and silent hill 4

well for one i got silent hill 4 dvd and it works fine and the game is decent enough to play, i just also hate certain cd protections myself. for example the one used in a game called operation flash point that if you had the wrong software installed it would take no less than reformating to get game to even patch and company literally did nothing to really fix issue and to this day have yet bought software made by tham.(game company for your info is codemaster) but yes in a situation liek that crackign the game is last resort but i never have to usually.

well to my other topic, 2 years ago in high school i did a research project on cd protections and you be amazed what i found and i can find the sources again if you want the proof. seems a few of the original creators of the compact disk and many others feel that any cd protection is actually considered illegal as it not only takes away the rights of the consumer to be able to make legal back ups(yes thats legal) but also it defects the cds and makes some almost unusable(umm isn't that becoming more common now?). you see how its suppose to go is a lot of those companies making these cds are suppose to get money off all the stuff liek blank cds and what not that is sold but since they put all those copy protectiosn out they also lose that money but also companies from what i read have been quietly sued for the protections(i can name a few on here if you like)
