*facepalm* sigh another sonic game. Are they really trying to make a good sonic game or they just keep making them because sonictards buy them no matter what?

needlemouse is a return to 2d sonic. So it may actually be good.
Yeah I read it on Kotaku.
2d HD.

This maybe is Sega's Final Fantasy. :p
If this doesnt work i say kill the poor rodent already and choose a new mascot. Like a cokroach. At this point that is more exciting than any new sonic game.
If they also remove most of the annoying side-characters and avoid adding new gameplay elements and instead focus on what the old games offered, it could be very nice.
As long as they finally understand one simple idea: Sonic DOESN'T translate into 3D.
Am I the only person that saw the title of this thread and thought it would be a new console?

Anyway, I guess it's a good thing they are still trying but at the same time I am not too optimistic. It's obvious they don't care about building a quality game based on the tripe they've released over the last few years (Sonic and the Secret Rings, anyone?). Like most Sega mistakes, they also refused to show any game play footage. I understand it's very early in development, but this is a chronic Sega problem. When they know they have a real turd on their hands, they make sure that 90% of the promo material is FMV only.

My heart got warm when I read "Project". :p
Obligatory the last good Sonic game was SA2.
I'm eagerly awaiting this project to find out how Sega screws up this time.

I hope they at least humor me.
Sega's been venturing off into publishing territory. They'll be an Ubioft soon enough. Or they might be already. I'm too lazy to see how much they've been developing themselves.

It's very well possible, they just ruined it by adding all these extra characters. The Sonic levels in SA and SA2 on Dreamcast were really great, with quite some nice innovative 3d levels.

Seconded, i never was in to sonic but the Sega Dreamcast versions kept me there sitting and playing, those where quite some fun & enjoyable games XD.

I thought unleashed has its moments too, but the werehog was a bad idea. Had they put in Knuckles instead, it might've gotten a lot less criticism.

But the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog (ps3/360).. I recently tried to play that but that's truly a piece of horror. Even Shadow the Hedgehog was better than that.
It's not even the realistic looking humans looking out of place, it's just that the game is broken all over.
You'd be suprised how popular Sonic is with young kids. And I'm not refering to the old 2D games. I'm refering to the new ones with a bunch of friends. The old fans have to come to terms with the fact that Sega is no longer making a Sonic game for them but for kids.

Anyway, obligatory Sonic cycle picture

IMSHO Sonic Unleashed is fun...
But I'm more interested in getting the Sega collection for the PSP and 360.
Still, I like Sonic Unleashed on the PS2, it isn't Sonic 2, but it's fun.
