I was looking in the PSX Screenshots section and noticed that there are huge images with less then 50Kb per screen shot and the size of the picture takes up most of the screen.

I have these small scrawny images on my web page that take up 400Kb (each) and they are very small. How do I shrink my file size down and yet have a big image. The loss of some quality doesn't matter.

I was told to change them into jpeg format but that did nothing. The file size was still the same.

Thanks in advance.

First, what did you use to convert it into jpeg?
Secondly, you need to set the compression factor when using JPEG... a factor of 80%-90% usually gives you reasonably good images while shrinking the filesize by quite a significant amount.

i have a question also, when i use pete's soft driver my snap shots are 1.50 mb and are corrupted. using other plugins they are 400-500kb depending on the resolution and come out nice.

btw if the shots are small use a higher resolution 640x480 is nice:)

hmmm...quite unusual for it to turn out that way in software mode. anyway, since d3d give you good results, then use that driver when you want to take screenshots, then back to soft when you want to play again. :)

I thought that you just re-type it but instead of .bmp just add .jpeg

What do I use (or what can I use) to convert it into a jpeg file?

Thanks in advance

use some picture utility like ACDSEE, works fine.:) or you could use mspaint, but its default to i think 70 or 75%, photoshop will also work, or any other photo utility, but if you want to batch process pics, use a utility like ACDSEE. hope this helps..:)

I used mspaint and clicked "file" then "Save-as" and I typed in the image_name.jpeg and the file size wasn't changed one bit.

Where can I get ACDSEE from?

Thanks in advance

Well they're not all "share where" I am actually getting ready to beta test for a small company in Hustan TX. The company is called Digital Tome and they just released a game called "Siege of Avalon". It should be in stores some time this week (if not now). If you would like to see what this game is about then go to my web page. Or www.siege-of-avalon.com

But what exactly I am testing is actually "confidential information that isn't to be released to the public". And some of the stuff can sure eat your memory and me haveing an older computer with a measely 7gig of memory, I am running out of space quicker then I can run the mile... and that is fast!

But you asked and I don't like to lie...

MSPaint doesn't know how to save into Jpeg... so yeah, as suggested by Xeven, use ACDSEE, or IrfanView (the one I use more often for conversion n' stuff).
