House passes same-sex marriage bill

Scores of same-sex American couples came to Canada to be married. Thousands of Canadians exercised their new right.

Overall there wouldn't be be a significant change in the country. Same-sex marriage has been legal in most of the provinces for awhile already. This Federal same-sex marriage law will be applied to all the provinces now.

Canada is now the third country to have same-sex marriage legalize.

You sound like Stephen Harper, the leader of Conservatives when he complained that votes from the Bloc were not legitimate for the same-sex bill.

As Gilles Duceppe would say, “Our mandate is every bit as legitimate as any member who sits in this chamber. That’s what they call democracy.”

Technically all the members of parliament SHOULD be voting to represent their constituents. However there is also an underlying rule to follow party line. So... this particular decision was a difficult thing to choose over. However, should things like this be left to majority rule? I dont think so, as sometimes the majority isnt right.

Overall I think its a good decision, and we shall see how it plays out. I am really sick of hearing the religious complaint about "oh its not the path of god!!!1". Really, tell me what is wrong other than this theoretical religious bull****. please.

Well, gay people where the first in the world to be diagnosed with aids... and it has never been acceptable in almost any society since written history began. However in a world like this the state should not be ruled by any individual religionanyway, so its no excuse...

I really think that Tolerance is the most retarded thing ever. Why should i have to tolerate corporate scandle, scandle in government, moral degradation, poor service, etc,etc..? Tolerance will be the down fall of everything good our society has. When my father was a kid there was ONE MURDER ALL YEAR and it was a public outrage. Now there are several dozens of muders every year which no one cares about (aka tolerates). And even when a cop is murdered it's reported on the news as "unfortunate"). So when i say i'm intolerant of gay people it's probably for the best of this country because if we just stand here and do nothing about it the world will look more and more like MTV reality shows which scares the **** out of me.

i never said the everything has to do with gay marriage. I'm saying that it's just one more step down on social ladder. My ideas of an ideal world is what America was in the 1950s minus the racism. I believe in gun control, but on the other hand i don't believe in getting rid of all guns. The only guns people should be able to own should only carry one shot and should have to take a little time to reload. and yes keith. In omaha nebraska there was a year where there was one murder all year and to the citizens it was one murder too many. What year was it... Can't exactly remember it was in the 50s or early 60s.

Segregation is a big thing to just take out to have your perfect world considering this was the mind set of the people of that time. If it wasn't blacks it would be something else. IMO, I think that we should let gay people be what they want. If we deny them marriage, then they will still live together, so nothing changes. Let them be what they want, it doesn`t affect my decision at all. And if gay people are carying diseases, then have doctors to try and find a cure or to privent diseases, cause whatever people do, they`ll still be gay.
