Hello Everyone!
I am hoping that someone can please help me - I have looked at everything I can find on Saga Frontier 2 (PAL), here and elswhere, and can't solve my problem. If anyone can, please do! :D
The game begins alright, and goes automatically into a bit of story (no SF2 data on mem card) - guys having a fight, army routed, King calls off the rout to go back to the castle and see his new born son, all very jolly, names him Gustav XIII - and then it freezes black (seen this about 50 times!).

I have tried all these things, in many combinations:
- I tried playing around with a patch - ePSXe Help said I would need one - but I reckon if that were the problem the game would not start at all, which it does.
- Get the same result running off the disc or an ISO.
- Tried starting ePSXe with command line switch -noauto; same result.
- Tried starting ePSXe with command line switch -auto, which has been mentioned as a special SF2 fixing switch, but this is not recognised as valid.
- Tried starting ePSXe with command line switch -nomdec (I reckon an MDEC is about to kick in when it freezes); same result.
- Tried all sorts of different video settings; same result.
:hdbash:

I am now at a complete loss as to what to try next. :???:
My versions are all quite up to date - I am using:
ePSXe 1.6.0
Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.6
P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9 [Doubt relevant]
Internal ePSXe W9X CDR [Doubt relevant]

If anyone can help, I would be eternally grateful - maybe :2love: !

Hope so,
Cheers,

Fu Hsi

Thanks hushypushy.

I'm using:
Windows XP
Intel Celeron (R) 2.40 Ghz
512 MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce FX 5200SE

I could (will) try another emu, but I'm sure folks have got SF2 working with ePSXe. Would be a lot easier!

P.S. Yeah, nice legs. Are those girls friends of yours?...

hmm, go to nvidia.com and update your graphics drivers, then try the Nice preset on OGL2 (you might want to use OGL though), try Eternal 1.41 for sound, and use Xeven's or SApu's CDR plugins.

and...whats wrong with using other emulators? just because ePSXe is the most popular doesnt mean its the best for every situation ;)

and OT, the girl in my avatar is one of my friends. the girls in my sig, i wish they were. uhhh i mean....the girl in my avatar is me. and the sig pic are my friends. gotta keep up with the plan

Yes, ahhhhhhhhh.......rrrrrrrr......rrrrggggghhhh........black screen! It seems to be a familiar story.... - sound continues fine, though.
Well, I have tried PSXeven, PCSX, and SSSPSX (sorry, yes, nowt wrong with other emulators); unfortunately same result. I have varied the settings a bit also.
As for the disk, it has been treated very well, and looks in good nick, but who knows.
I will try your last round of suggestions, hushypushy. :)
One other thing that occurred to me was that if I could get some SF2 memcard data, it would go to the title screen on loading up, instead of into the sequence, and I might get round it that way. But I suppose, I would have to watch that scene at some stage anyway.
Thanks for all the help, chaps. I'll keep trying. There must be a solution somewhere... :thumb:

[btw, hushypushy; I'm confused - do you wear skirts or not? - or are you a very un-hairy Scotsman! ]
