I just got into Playstation emulation because It was the only way to play the RE series w/out buying the system. I got hooked on RE2 for N64 and After that one I wanted to play RE1 and RE3 but I don't have a PSX so I spent about a week trying to find an emulator and the past 4 days setting up ePSXe but I'm having problems with the games.

I only have one problem with RE3 and that's the voices during normal play. The video works fine, the music works fine, the speed's OK but voice is an issue and a critical part of the game. I'm using ePSXe core for the sound plugin and the kazzuya software driver ALPHA 1.6 for video. and it's ePSXe version 1.2.0 if that helps any. Is there an updated version?

The other problem is with RE:DirectCut. It stalls when I get to the player select screen. Is there a patch for it? I really need some help.

Voice emulation is not perfected yet. The ePSXe team is working on it for the next release, so hopefully it should be alot better. You might want to try Pete's new Direct Sound Plugin 1.8 and see how that does w/voices. I have tried it w/Gauntlet Legends and all the sounds including the voice when the character eats something are perfect.
To get past the character selection screen, try pressing F4. That usually does the trick, If your controller is hanging, then try pressing F5 and then F4. That should work.

MORE PROBLEMS!

I got a copy of RE:DirectCut (I was borrowing it) and found MORE problems. Once again the voices glitch but not as bad. Just slow. Some flickering is still going on and I still can't see the cards. I'm thinking about geting a copy of VGS. Is it really good? I've heard good things but I'm not sure I want to fork over the cash for it. I really like the ePSXe alot and wish to thank everybody that has put their time and effort into these emus/plugins.

Would creating an ISO make the game work better? I could try it but I don't really want to eat up my HD on something to have it not work. Thanks for the help all!

VGS RULES!

Me again. I just got hold of a FREE (probally not leagle copy) of VGS. AWSOME! I'm head over heals for this EMU! I've started playing my RE games on it and I'm impressed. RE DirectCut works flawlessly and RE3 only has a slight speed glitch and voice glitch. Nothing big. I don't know about you guys, but I spent only about $44 on emulation. Most of it was free!

- Computer: gift from my dad 2 years ago
- VGS emulator: FREE! (HINT: http://bleemer.163.net)
- sound system: Amp: FREE (thanks mom) speakers: $20 second hand(very nice. BIG!)
- internet access: Paid by dad
- Games: (RE and RE3) FREE! (CD-R copies I burned from my friends origionals. Thanks Ryan!)
and - Saitek X6-32M 8-button game pad: $24 at Competive Computers 20% off sale.

Have fun you guys! GET VGS!
