Hmmm... I don't know, as for me CV was better than RE3 (damn... finishing this games quite few times to get extra costumes or characters story board realy made that game borring... and that nemesis...every 20 minutes...)

Of course RE:Code Veronica would be better on the DC than on the PS2 since it was released first on the DC. Enjoy your DC version, you have a true gem there.

Even though I liked all RE games I've played, I still think the original Resident Evil 1 on the Saturn/PS1 was the best. Something stays with you the first time you play it. Subsequent RE games were more action oriented than the first.

I'd love to play the RE1 remake on the gamecube. ;)

I don't know, I really think of RE2 as something that marked a hit... RE1 was great but the way RE2 was implemented (with the 2 characters stories and alternative scenarios) was superb. Plus the feeling of survival like anything else I've seen on a game of that style, specially on the alternative scenarios when your characters are pursued by that Hunter creature...

Funny thing about this topic...
Recently we picked up the PS2 version of RE:Code Veronica, but we refused to play it till we caught up in the series (Guess we are weird that way). Prior to the purchase we had conquered the original and Directors Cut versions of RE on PS1. We noticed we had both RE2 and RE3 PS1 also in our collection, and so we just conquered RE2. We agree with Kaiser...It was good. The first scenarios had good storyline, and filled gaps from RE1. It was the second scenarios that impressed us. At first we just thought it was going to be like RE1's alternate mode where they just shuffle items, but it was much more. It not only filled in gaps in the first scenario's storyline, but also had your butt chased by a Tyrant strategically dropped into the house. What added even more to our enjoyment was the suprise "HAHA fooled you it is not quite the ending" ending. Then the bonus Hunk and Tofu scenarios, and from what we gather the Hunk scenario explains how Umbrella gets the G-Virus (and is apparently explained by Wesker in RE:CV). That was some good gaming from 2 PS1 disks (Although we haven't quite gotten thru Tofu's scenario..not sure if it is worth it..obviously a gag, and a hard one at that).
We are now clearing RE3, and so far we are in agreement to what has already been said. So far we are going through Racoon City PD, and it is a complete rehash the RE2 game using the same engine and graphics. Also old Nemesis doesn't quite seem to shock us since it also seems to be a thrown in idea that was already capitolized by the chasing Tyrant in RE2's scenario 2. We will go through it nonetheless just for story integrity. At least we understand how ole Brad Vickers got killed in RE2..Maybe ole Nemesis from RE3 was nice enough to shove that special key in his pocket ;) (RE fans that played both should get that one).
Once we clear RE3 we will go back to the RE1 GC remake (Wow..we played the first level...it is worthy), and then hit RE:CV..then maybe rent RE Zero, and then do RE4 :thumb:

Yeah, I agree, RE2's alternate story lines were great. But I remember RE1 also had alternate conversations and scenes if you did things differently or in different orders. This way you get to see a bit different sides to the storyline. Both are great games, but I just prefered RE1 because it was an original. I actually had the Sega Saturn version, maybe that's why. ;)

First of all, there's an edit button in case you forgot to post something :)

Second: There isn't a bleemcast made for RE1, you must have the leaked beta, cause only Tekken 3, MGS and GT2 have been emulated.

ePSXe will always look better ;) (if the game is compatible that is :p)

All the games are tied in some odd way. You learn more and more about the circumstances from different games that make a whole picture.

Hunk can also be seen in the opening trailer for "Resident Evil: Outbreak". (Which I actually liked).

Resident Evil 2 is a great game I am personally glad we got that instead of the "Resident Evil 1.5" that so many wanted. It was one of the first games during that time that left a deep impression on how remarkable gaming can become. I didn't find it scary, but did find it a great rush at times.

Resident Evil 3 on the other hand had such great hopes. I think what killed it was the length and text based choices. It was great seeing "Mr. X" in Re2 bust down the door and run like hell from him. While in Re3 it was more of "Do you wish to run or stay and fight?" text boxes which pulled you out of the game.

The gun survivor series is hated, yet they arn't the worse games out there. Resident Evil Gaiden was so bad that the director actually strict it from the timeline and gaming community. Dead Aim, the last game in the surivor series was a great budget game if you can find it for cheap. I liked the atmosphere of the ship. (especially after watching Ghostship a day before).

I suggest if you want to play RE and want the whole picture try and play everything. You'll find a much deeper experience than most realized.

Yet, I still consider the SH series and Fatal Frame series to be the games that made the horror in surival horror. While re, just made the survival.

That's what I thought as well, though I can't back it up from own experience. I have seen other DC games that have been ported to PS2 and that do look and sound better on the DC though ;) (Grandia 2 namely :))

Grandia 2's slowdown on the PS2 had me ripping my hair out.

Dead or Alive 2 and Headhunter are apparently better on the DC.

But isn't the PS2 RE:CV a bit longer than the DC version?
let me add something: Grandia 2 doesn't even look as sharp on the PS2 as it did on DC, and what annoyed me the most is that the characters sort of float over the floor, and the footsteps aren't syncronised as well as in the DC version.

About RE:
The ps2 version is supposed to have something like Wesker's Report and it has some more cutscenes and better FMV's if I recall correctly from the PS2 reviews I've read.
