I just want to know if using a registry cleaner is a safe thing to do. I heard that it can sometimes damage your computer by deleteing necessary files. I was planning on using a program called super utilities 6.0 or something such as that to do it.

That's why you have to backup the registry 1st and make sure you know what you're doing. It's not gonna kill files, just registry entries which MAY be important. It was never meant to be a something for the faint of heart.

Mostly all registry cleaner programs have a backup option for the paranoid, but usually these programs go for the safe and common problems (antique uninstaller entries/file associations, that sort of thing).

Giving a personal opinion: Crap Cleaner has not given me a problem, ever :)
