i discovered that the epsxe cheat option doesn't support gameshark-formated codes. thus, i was wondering if there was a tool out there that anyone knew of that converts gameshark codes to the proper format the epsxe uses

The cheat option built into epsxe isn't really a cheat program more a hex editor. It is called cheat because you can edit ingame values for lives etc... if you know what you're doing. That said it is mainly used in order to patch some games that do not run otherwise. As suggested above if you want to cheat you are better off using pec.
