The sensor bar is necessary to use the Wiimote as a pointer. Motion controls (accelerometers) are built in to the Wiimote itself.

You can always try lighting 2 candles and place them about 10 inches (25 centimeters) apart. Just point your Wiimote at the candles and it will "think" it's detecting the sensor bar's infrared signal.

It's still recommended that you use a sensor bar (or make one yourself) or else you'll be buying candles every so often. :rolleyes:

I've tested both methods. Both work.

If you decide to try the "candle trick", just be sure you keep the candles away from heat sensitive equipment and of course, flammables.
