umm, recently i've been listening to a lot of rap, and i'm starting to like most of it.

Old-school rap is good, but to each his own.

I liked stan but thats about it.

I thought that I could never enjoy rap until I heard Outkast. Its the only "rap" I like. Of coarse theirs is much more funky a rap than most. Their second album featured George Clinton from P Funk. But its weird because I don't like P Funk either. I seem to keep on finding one band in a genre that I like when I completely dispise every other artist in that genre. Such as Techno I don't like, but Aphex Twin is awesome.

Mmm, I like Aphex Twin too (and anything else done by Richard James), SquarePusher, The Orb, Orbital, Talvin Singh, The Prodigy plus also Drum 'n Bass stuff like, Grooverider, John B, LTJ Bukem...

I don't like rap because every lousy pot-head I know listens to it, even if they didn't like it before they like it after becoming a lousy pot-head..... oh well.....

heh....well,the rap nowadays isn't that good...the older stuff is better IMO. ....and eminem is an idiot.

Uncle Clive, those are UK rappers and they all are highly respected. AND Old School Rap are also Good. But todays band such as Limp Bizkit just make the 'RAP' name looks like somekind of Trash ...

I thing rap is [email protected] Its for people who don't know how to sing properly. No offence to rap fans though...

yea i like outkast. i like rap when it's fused with other styles. like 311 and such. i don't really like the hardcore stuff.

anyone here ever heard of avantasia?

Hey I know plenty of lousy pot-heads that hate rap just as much as you do. BTW I live in Nashville, TN so most of my friends have dads that are either in a band or are music producers. This doesn't mean they all like country music(just the opposite in fact). Anyway my point is that they don't like rap because there parents raised them to like music that is played with real instruments not a drum machine.


Uncle Clive, I haven't listened to a lot of Aphex Twin(RD James), but I like what I've heard. "Come to Daddy" and "Richard D. James Album" and some of the ambient works. BTW have you heard the "Kid A" radiohead album? This remind me of some of the ambient Aphex Twin stuff.

Hi Adair, I shall check out the Radiohead album, in fact I think one of my work collegues may have the CD right here. If you like Aphex Twin, you should also check out Polygon Windows (Surfing on Sine Waves), that is done by Richard D James too.

Old-school artists used real bands to lay down the beats for their music, which is why it's not bad.

New stuff is pure shite.
