Regarding people mocking Xbox to gain more clicks / views, this part i don't quite understand. If these people want more views / clicks or want more attentions, logically, they should mock Playstation since far more PS are sold compare to Xbox. Logically, if PS sold 2x more than Xbox, anything mocking / making fun of PS should bring in at least 2x the views /clicks.

My country's market is almost monopoly by PS (but Nintendo products seem are quite famous here too), so i rarely seen any news / people mocking Xbox or other consoles. But recently there are a lot of fake PS5 news appearing, like putting a fake news by using PS5 dev kit as the "confirmed" PS5 look, and people started replying comments like it is ugly, hate the design, etc. Or recently a banner with PS5 (using the Dev kit image too), with Japanese wording on it, and article mentioned the PS5 will have 2 pricing at launch, one version is around 600USD (without RTX), another version is around 1000USD (with RTX), which made people felt unhappy due to the high price and 2 difference consoles offer difference kind of image quality (many people believed thos are real info), etc.

Regarding people who try to be difference from others (by mocking famous games) to make themself feel unique, i think it is not just on gaming field, i just remembered this happening to "foods" also. I never introduce my friends to visit any food stall due to i noticed a lot of people / friends have this try to be unique attitude too based on my monitoring. Example, a food stall has lots of customers, usually need to queue up a long time in order to buy the foods, some people will go to try the foods, after that will tell people "i don't know why people like to eat those foods, the foods just so normal / sucks". IMO, this is all about personal taste, like a game / food, or dislike a game / food, this is really just personal taste, no need to mock a famous / popular game to feel themself are unique. For me, famous game / food are famous because they are accepted by far more people, not because they are perfect.
I wasn't necessarily referring to Xbox but actually is a easy way to gain clicks. Eventhough the Xbox has sold far less and even have less appealing games for certain audience Xbox by itself is making tons of cash and we can argue that Sony sold 100m+ consoles but as we know money isn't in the hardware but services and that is where MS mostly shines.

What I was referring to is that when you target lets say Xbox you actually get the attention of fanboys of both sides as you get the so called ponies trashing Xbox and the Xbots damage controlling things and that by itself means you have 2 birds with one shot. I personally believe that a part of Digital Foundry growth and popularity this days is because of the imaginary console wars with their famous resolution videos or saying one game have few more blades of grass as it was the case with the GTA V comparison.

I personally don't pay much attention to those and kinda enjoy seeing fanboys from both sides trashing each others and acting like brainless kids posting arguments or lists of imaginary titles not even announced just to justify their purchases. What really bothers me as I previously mention is the double standard this days which is why I posted the 2 articles and also the Digital Foundry video where they took a youtube video as a source for analysis but still the Godfall analysis is completely missing eventhough we have far more footage out there.

As for people trying to feel special...that is part of our ego as humans and it exists everywhere. We tend to have the view that we are the center of the universe and forget how less important we are in reality. As mention many hide behind PC just to show off and feel better and that is also the case with console warriors trying to justify their purchases and showing why their console of choice is better.

For instance the most ridiculous and stupid cases I personally find are:

- PC Master Race
Me: that person is an idiot because a piece of silicon doesn't make you a better person but instead makes you a moron who believe is better because of that.

- Exclusives
Me: glad to see who are the morons responsible for us not having freedom of choice in gaming. Exclusives make somewhat sense in some cases but at the same time bragging about having them and believing your taste is absolute makes those who believe that automatically retarded in my eyes.

- Double standards
Me: sorry but I need to puke.... :p

PC Master Race is a bastardized term, they are the new "PC Gamers" or people who come from consoles.

The new era is full of bastardized terms such as atheism, autism, LGBT*, geek, otaku, "the N-word", Muslim, feminism, hacker, virus, nazism, fascism, socialism, marxism, the swastika, America, and so on. All these terms have lost their weight, the true meaning and many don't care about the etymology of the word / symbol.

For me, PC Master Race is someone with a minimum entry level PC for 3D CAD software.
Even if all people understand the same language, there is no guarantee that everyone will understand the same thing when they hear or read.

US = Uncle Sam, right?

There are also some extreme cases like the one below. Cory Barlog have been posting many positive things about the XSX and talking a lot with Phil recently as well as posting pictures of his gaming setup holding a XB1 controller and playing a Xbox game. His setup have 2 Switch and 1 X1X console but no PS4 around triggering fanboys.

The message quoted by Cory clearly shows what's wrong this days.

Not a piccy...

My last purchase of the year...

Mortal Kombat 11 PC/Steam.

***Oops***

Dangerous Driving from Epic Store last purchase. $5.29. I'm a burnout fan...so sue me...

I don't plan on buying anything else from Epic.

I doubt Dangerous Driving will be sold on Steam at all.

I got the 'new' Yookalaylee game for free from Epic as well. I got the $10 coupon I used from getting the free game.

Anyone have New Years Resolutions about Video Games?

I created a 'group' on Steam called 2020 Queue and am trying to finishing as many as possible by 12/31/2020.

I also am trying to limit spending on Steam and GOG to $50 total each month. That doesn't count the $12 I spend on Humble for the Monthly Bundle.

I went $5 over on Steam this month getting Mortal Kombat 11 and the Soundtrack to Moonlighter... Tax junk...

I find the notion of New Year's resolutions silly, why wait to the new year to change something about your life? Or to make some resolution? Every year I see the gyms around packed with people in January and two months later? Empty again. Silly.

Maybe it's a bit different nowadays, but when looking at PS1 games (and 90's games in general) in Europe and the USA there would often be a port from a game from console to pc or vice versa. Amiga games would get SNES ports, PS1 games would often be on pc.
In Japan it would be far less common... you can tell by looking at the SNES or PS1 library and how many Japanese games did not have a PC or home computer equivalent. I never really got why, because there was a personal computer market in Japan. In the 90's there were the odd ports of popular console games to the X68000 and later Windows, but not nearly as often. On the other hand those systems did have a large game library, but they would usually be different games from different developers. E.g. Falcom was almost exclusively developing for pc's at the time.
So, where did this divide come from anyway?

Japan's PC market share has always been pathetically small compared to the US and Europe. By 1998, you were in the minority to not have a PC. In Japan even today PC ownership is scarce.

No point in porting to an audience that largely doesn't exist... I just wish that Japanese devs would take a good look at the rest of the world and realize that there is demand on foreign shores. I also wish Nintendo wasn't staffed with idiots and just sell their old catalog on other systems instead of bitching and taking legal action against emulation sites, streamers, and fan projects.

I bought myself 3 monster hunter world's related items before end of 2019 (received them on 31 Dec 2019). The 2 collector editions are second hands, without games, but everything inside the boxes are brand new. Total for these 3 items is around USD 170 included shipping fee, which i think is so worthy with all the items inside.

Still, there was a pc market there, just seemed like something rather separate from the console business. Maybe the reason other (different, smaller (?)) companies went there was because they didn't have to compete with the console companies... that and indie devs couldn't easily reach the console audience. That would make sense.

There's also the language barrier to consider.

Both English and Japanese are considered among the most difficult languages to learn. PC gaming began to skyrocket in popularity with the advent of forums and tech sites in the late 90s. These sites were predominantly in English, so getting help building a PC, asking questions, and otherwise building enthusiasm has always been difficult for would-be Japanese PC enthusiasts.

Also, there's the collective mindset of what PC simply "is" in Japan. Many of the Japan-only PC games are by Indies and small (but recognized) dev studios. This is to say nothing of the massive visual novel market. So for most Japanese gamers the thought is: buy a console for games; buy a PC for porn novels.

The only game which will get me back from my gaming hiatus is FF7. I already told my brother in law to lend me his ps4 for it.

It has been a year since I've played a game on my pc.

Btw guys, sorry If I missed the PS5 and Xbox X Series posts, but I have a question.
Is there a reason why consoles are using AMD and not Nvidia?
Do you think is the right move with great performance for their goals?

It's all about saving money.

Intel refused to renew nVidia's x86 license after nVidia released their nForce motherboards and destroyed the deal between Intel and Rambus by giving dual channel memory to the masses. (faster and MUCH cheaper)

Also, AMD can package their CPU and GPU together (APU) at a cheaper cost than using a discreet CPU/GPU combination. Though I also think AMD is also more willing to outbid nVidia at wholesale cost too. Off the top of my head, nVidia's only been in the OG XBox, PS3, and Switch.

Performance-wise, AMD has been focusing on multi-execution rendering and it really shows in DX12 and Vulkan titles. These low-level APIs are similar to what the consoles use to achieve a surprising amount of performance, given the GPU's relatively low specs compared to its PC counterparts.

It's why I was so surprised when I heard news about people lining up around the block for the 3950x launch, the price was the highest anywhere in the world and it still sold out.

I suppose folks need a lot of compute to upscale their art to huge resolutions.
