Why does a computer dvd-rom drive (And I have a drive that is like 22x) have so many problems reading a PS2 DVD fast enough for gameplay? If I run an iso, it's fine.

Now I don't need all the tutorials on why harddrive speeds are better than disc drives, but seriously...this is a pretty big thing. I can get 10-15+ fps difference just from running the game via ISO.

And btw, I'm using Pete's CD plugin.

Disc changes speeds and takes more time to get to the emulator...ISO does not.

Besides your just killing your rom drive using it....I use mine as little as possible.

The PS2 DVD-ROM drive only runs in low speed modes when compared to reading CD-ROMs, therefore it doesn't constantly spin up and down like a much faster PC drive (remember, the PS2 came out back in about 1999 when practically no-one had such a drive). Chuck Tekken Tag (CD-ROM based game) into your PS2 and you'll hear the drive spin up immediately.
