You can make ISO images of games to run them from your HDD.
Thare are a few ISO creation tools out there like WinISO, Alcohol 120% and ISOBuster. Create an ISO with one of them then use Daemon tools or Alcohol 52%/120% to mount it on a virtual CD drive. That way you won't have hte CD spin-up problems
