Sorry, folks. This is too cool to ignore. :)


This is... imo... the best implementation of headtracking ever! And words on the street are that Gran Turismo 5 will have this feature. Namely, you can look around when you are in c0ckpit view if you have a PlayStation Eye in front of you... :drool:

I don't find it better than the example of headtracking shown using the Wiimote, but :
- This one won't require you to have anything attached to your head. (less cumbersome)
- This one may actually be used in games instead of simply being a fan project.

A racing game is probably not the kind of game I'd be interesting in using headtracking with, but it should be a great way of bringing attention to it and opening the way for more games to try it. It's a pretty cool initiative from them.

Oh no, you said the taboo word, now this thread will be trolled!

If Nvidia added headtracking to their 3D goggles it would probably be adopted by quite a few games real fast. (but then you'd have to face the price)

Nvidia's 3d glasses, while neat, aren't very popular due to obvious cost reasons. It doesn't have the influence to popularize another technology like that.

Id love to see a more advanced version of this in an mmorpg, 10 years from now :p.
Why 10 years from now? It's not demanding technology, developers could do it now if they wanted to.

Did you hear me Bioware, developers of The Old Republic!? I said you could incorporate head tracking NOW if you wanted to.....
