Hi,

So, I've used ePSXe in the past and haven't ever had any problems. However, I just reinstalled it on my (newish) computer, and I'm having issues.

First, I've used the 1001 and 7502 bios's, and gpuPete's D3D, OpenGL, and OpenGL2 plugins. Every combination giving the same results.

Whenever I try to load a game (the two I have are FF7 and FFT, using ISOs in .bin format), the SCEA logo shows up, followed by the squaresoft logo. At that point, nothing else happens. The Squaresoft logo stays on the screen. No matter what settings I try, nothing happens. I thought perhaps it was because I run SLI, but after disabling it and restarting, the same thing happens.

Now, I have a friend with FFT and he sent me a save file. If I load FFT and then immediately load his save, it works perfectly. I can load the game from that point and play without problems.

Does anybody have any suggestions/ideas? I'm getting pretty frustrated. The logs show nothing - it doesn't appear to crash (i.e. hitting escape still takes me back to the ePSXe main screen and allows me to load/save, etc), it just doesn't continue past that point, no matter how long you let it sit.

EDIT:

I'm running vista 64. All my drivers, etc are up to date.

I've tried mounting it and just running straight from the bin. Both give the same result. I'm now getting an error in PSX as well. The first battle in FFT goes just fine, but when you get to the second one (the first "real" battle) it crashes as soon as I try to take an action other than movement. I know this copy works - I've used it in the past to go much further than this :(

at this point im going to say it could indeed be the image itself or maybe the just format that is giving you trouble. unlike epsxe, psx uses no kind of plugin system (which is why i find it useful in troubleshooting with epsxe), so the bad plugin choice/settings possibility can most likely be ruled out now.

i would recommend making a new image but use a different fomat like .ccd or mdf this time, multiple tutorials can be found in the link below if you are not sure how to do this.

I indeed made a new image using .ccd and it is working again in psx. Still nothing in epsxe, just hangs at the squaresoft logo. FF7 also works in psx, but just hangs in epsxe still. Nooo idea whats going on :(

have you tried using other versions of epsxe like 1.6.0 or 1.5.2?
