>every1 copies cds......
I'd imagine so, but that doesn't mean they copy them illegally. I've made copies of Parasite Eve, but only because my original PSX CDs are so heavily scratched. As for music CDs, I've made mix CDs to play in the car, but once again I own the CDs from which I copied the tracks.

Yes, I copy CD's...They're called "Backups." They tend to run better than the originals with me. Is there something wrong with copying something you bought?

There is nothing wrong with backups, I make ISO images of PSX games which is essentially making a copy, but it's okay because I own the original game and paid for it in the first place.

Illegal copying is when people take copies of games and play them when they haven't paid for them in the first place. Surely this is wrong?

I often make back-ups of the games I own. If I cannot find a no-cd crack for a computer game, I will back it up. Taking a disk in and out every time you play is a sure recipe for trouble. Making a spare copy is legal and worthwhile. If you do not own the game however, you are a pirate pure and simple. I also include anyone who loads their friends CD onto their machine and uses a crack to play it. How about loading a PSX ISO onto your machine from a friends disk? Sorry, that still makes you a thief. Don't own, don't burn.

Yes.. copying legally owned games is not bad..

After I received my $29 Bleem CD, I was so afraid I might scratch the disk badly that I made all efforts to search the net and try almost every burner-software just to back-it up... Grrrrrr....

If only ePSXe could have been there at that time already...

Now, I have a working backup of the CD but Bleem stopped updating their program... Grrrrrr...

If you own it and copy if for a backup you are fine and it is legal. If you rent it or borrow it and copy it you are wrong and it is illegal. It
is that simple. The law says that you are entitled to make 1 backup copy of software you own "For Your Own Use Only". So if this is what you are doing, then it is legal. Of course, this is USA Laws that I am talking about since I live in the USA, I do not know what other countries laws state. But I'm willing to bet that they are similar. If you copy software that you don't own, then it is illegal and you are a pirate. The laws say that too.
Disturbed, you say that everyone copies CDs. Do you mean legally or illegally? I ask because not everyone does illegally as voiced by some members on this board and those who do are still wrong, no matter how many choose to do it illegally. They are wrong. Sheer numbers of people doing a wrong thing does not justify it, it is still wrong. Bottom line, if you copy PSX CDs illegaly you are a thief and a pirate. End of story.

Thats a bunch of BS, copy games is illegal no matter what the case. But yes I do copy them when I rent them or borrow them from a friend most games arn't worth paying the money, maybe some considering most are 20 now but I mean for new games that cost 60 dollars! Thats 30 off the PSone price, I mean c'mon how f***ing rediculous!! I havn't bought anything in a while and I have a huge game collection. Even when I do buy them it's at this store where used games are only $10.

As for people who only making copies "legally" thats a just cover-up! Everyone I know does copy games and most just say, "oh it's for a backup" then they go and give it to their friends, which I know if any of your friends asked for a copy of a cool new game you bought you would probably say yes. So don't lie to your self about making "legal" copies. I can understand ISOing a PS game because it runs faster and everything, but even then it is illegal.

Asz I hope you do not have a VCR as using the same logic recording live broadcasts from TV is making an illegal copy of copyrighted material....

... that would be except that there was a court case whch resulted (Well Uk/Ireland at least) in the "fair use" act. If it can be argued in court that the copy of any material (Pictures, audio, tv programmes) resulted in no loss of revenue for the owner of the said material, then the said material is legal. Thus copying games as backups are legal, and maybe even copying a game you own for a friend and giving him a copy... if it could be proven that he would have bought it in the first place. However if you made a copy then sold it that has resulted in a loss of revenue and the cops can bust you ass.

copying is ok but selling/renting out copys at any positve price even if you dont make a profet is illegal.

warz should be illegal but sence voteing on pop ups is not counted as reall money they get away with it.

places that sell back ups are illegal and worse then warz cause their making a profet off of all this.

Hmmm.... lets think about it. You record a show with a VCR. Now then, how do TV stations make money? Ads, and if people record shows on a TV station what do they also record? Ads. And besides think about it! TV people brodcast TV stations for free, (except cable and sat). But besides! WTF does this have to do with copying video games?!

Just wondering...

How many of you (who say,"copying PSX CDs is illegal") download ROMs on he internet?
It's as illegal as copying a game. And downloading a ROM is illegal even if you own the game. Double standards anyone?
