Hey, I'm new here and this is my first post so sorry in advance if this is in the wrong place. I've checked everywhere for this too, to make sure it wasnt some obvious fix. But if it is, I apologize again :|

Currently I'm having problems with my sound, which I'm guessing is from my sound plugin, as the video is near perfect as to where I want it to be.

The problem is when I open a menu (by pushing triangle or going to save a game) in FFIX I usually get a double sound of anything I do, like it repeats the same sound twice, and it does this to the music as well. Like it's skipping, but I'm not using cd's to play the game, I'm running it from an ISO. But I'm not mounting it, I'm just going to File -> Run ISO and selecting my IMG file of disc 1 to run it. Could that be a problem?

I'm using:
Video - Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9
Sound - ePSXe SPU core 1.7.0 sound driver.

I've also downloaded all the shaders from http://forums.ngemu.com/psx-plugin-...ides-custom-shaders-petes-opengl2-plugin.html

I honestly have no idea what the optimum set up is, so all I did was download the most recent plug-ins and installed them, beyond that I have no idea how to set them :(. Is my video plugin a little too much for my graphics card?

This is my computers set up:

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1
AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-60 1.90 GHz
3.00 GB Ram
Ati Radeon 3100 Graphics

I really like how it looks now, but when it has to do something or puts a load on the game like lots of moving objects, it slows down the FPS and becomes choppy. It doesnt last very long so I get over it pretty quick, but any help with what I can change will be very appreciated, I'm pretty new to emulation so I'm kind of scared to touch anything :|

Video Settings:

Again I appreciate any help. I could learn to live with it, I'm just looking at options right now. FFIX is worth it lol. thanks

Using Eternal SPU, set to SPUasync, Smooth with a buffer of 32.

As for Pete's GPU,
Now that i've had a chance to verify myself, i can validate the facts
OD-FU-FE
0-0-0 - Causes missing battle swirl and Ocean clipping is solid instead of faded.
1-0-0 - Causes missing battle swirl
1-1-0 - CAUSES BLACK FLICKERING.
1-2-0 - CAUSES BLACK FLICKERING.

1-0-1 - No black flickering, no OSD problems, partial Battle swirl
1-0-2 - No black flickering, no OSD problems, Battle swirl is complete but a heavy slowdown occurs before the battleswirl effect occurs
1-0-3 - No black flickering, no osd problems, battle swirl is completely black

1-1-1 - Black flickering, no osd problems, battle swirl is black
1-1-2 - No black flickering but corrupt textures are noticed around text boxes, no OSD problems, Battle swirl is complete but a heavy slowdown occurs before the battleswirl effect occurs
1-1-3 - No black flickering, no osd problems, battle swirl is completely black

(Corruption occurs behind text on all with no black flickering)
1-2-0 - Black flickering, no osd problems, battle swirl turns screen black
1-2-1 - Black flickering, no osd problems, battle swirl turns screen black
1-2-2 - No black flickering, no OSD problems, battle swirl doesn't freeze screen no motion blur , corruption occurs
1-2-3 - No black flickering, no OSD problems, battle swirl doesn't freeze screen but appears black, motion blur works, corruption occurs

Concluding the following facts.

FE must be set to 2 to get working battle swirl, and FU must be set to 2 otherwise a pause occurs between the map and the battle swirl.

However, FU being set to 2 causes the black flickers, if FE isn't set to atleast 2, so FU 2 and FE 2 MUST be used together.

FU MUST be atleast 2 to use FE 3 otherwise the battle swirl reverts to a black mess.

The 0x0001 gamefix should also be enabled, it looks like.

Fastest settings with battle swirl (no motion blur though) is -1-2-2 with 0x0001 and 0x0002 gamefixes enabled
1-0-3 is the fastest overall, it screws the battle swirl into a black mess, but gives motion blur (damnit, hard decisions now....)
If you still need further help, I think I drop by Arizona myself. :p

Thanks for the feedback really!

But I'm confused, are you suggesting I do both? as in, configure the sound plugin to eternal spu, AND set my video configuration to what Squall said?

And you'd be more than welcome, i've been trying for almost a week now to get them both to work :D

Also, when I use eternSPU the sounds dont echo any more, it's just when I have a menu up (through triangle or saving or after a fight ends) the music goes slllllllooooooowwwww. I've noticed the music slows down where it would normally be echoing.

Well when I try to set it up to the 1-0-3 set up squall said was "fastest without battle swirl" when I enter a fight everything is fine until it display the guys I'm fighting, and then it's like a slide show where audio and visual will play for one second and stop, and continues this.

So for now i'm being contented with hitting F7 during the game with the eternalSPU plugin, which is doing fine, but I know the graphics could be better, which nags me.

and do you think you could explain what "trying to cache data from the image" is? sorry for all the questions :[ but you are an awesome help regardless.
