Hi. A friend of mine recently bought FFIX, and wants to get it to work on his PC since it apparently looks better. Ive tried setting up epsxe and followed the instructions, including seeting up the GPU , CDR and SPU plugins. He managed to find the correct bios as well (PAL) , and if i click Run BIOS, then it shows then playstation menu and plays the usual sound. But if i click RUN CD using the original CD, it only shows a black screen. I also tried ripping the 1st CD to ISO using daemon tools, and tried using RUN ISO, and also tried mounting the ISO to the first drive letter and using RUN CD - but it still just shows a black screen. I don't get it. Please help.

Thanks

That doesnt really explain why both me AND him get those black screens when using the original discs though...

nevertheless, i have:

P3 - 600, creative geforce2, 320mg RAM, SB Live Value. Directx8.0a, latest nVidia detonators (12.41), Win98SE

He has - P3-800, geforce2, 384 MB RAM, SB Live Platinum, win98SE, Directx8.0a, nVidia Detonators 12.41

I ripped a test iso of disc 1 using Blind Read, nibble method. Mounted it as drive E: using Daemon/DaeMount. I can explore the contents of the virtual drive in Explorer.

I have tried epsxe, fpse, bleem and vgs on mine. Ive only tried epsxe on his.original. Like i said before, i've tried both the original disc, and the ripped iso.

cool...

aha. Thanks guys. I suggested this to my bud, and after about 2 hours of struggling, eventually came right. Apparently it loook a HELL of a lot better on ePSXe than on his PS2. Apparently he's got a problem now with sound skipping and some weird reverb effects - any suggestions on that issue?
