It seems like the new scanline option increases 16bit texture quality well. The catch however is that during a battle swirl, the effect is sometimes so faint as if it's invisible. I have set the scanline brightness to 200. Running the game at 640*480 res.
I also raised my comp brightness too. Without the scanlines the swirl effect is back to normal. I'm using Pete's opengl plugin1.52 with a Geforce2mx 32mb BTW.

That's nothing new... same thing with my 'old' scanline option... a "framebuffer texture" is reading the painted display, and therefor it will get (my painted) scanlines, too... and the gpu-menu... and dithered pixels... and a currently displayed save game pic... everything...

The only way around that in my plugins: using full vram primitives and 'emulated vram' Framebuffer textures... of course slow...
