Persona 2 Problem

I just started playing Persona 2, and everything was going fine. I've fought 5 or 6 battles, but now when a battle loads up, everything crashes. The entire ePSX becomes non-responsive. I've tried both version 1.52 and 1.6 with a few different graphics plugins each time. Here's my current video specs

Plugin: P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.1.17
Author: Pete Bernert and the P.E.Op.S. team

Resolution/Color:
- 800x600 Fullscreen - [16 Bit]
Stretch mode: 0
Dither mode: 2

Framerate:
- FPS limit: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Misc:
- Scanlines: disabled
- Game fixes: off [00000001]

i've been playing this game myself, recently. i'm using peops as well, and the only difference between our settings is that i have dither mode turned off and playing in windowed mode.

i've gotten far in the game, so it does work. one thing i did notice is that in both Kasugayama and Seventh High Schools, the game will occasionally crash when loading up a battle. since you've only fought a few battles, i'll assume your still in Seventh High. i've gotten around the crashes simply by loading my most recent save state (and i imagine loading from memory card would work as well) after rebooting epsxe. give that a go. if no luck, you can try using gameshark codes to disable random battles or something, just until you get out.
I got the same problem running it with ePSXe (random crashes of the game) so I switched to PSXeven and there were no problems at all :)
you've crashed outside of the schools too?
So far it was only in the school. The crash makes me close ePSXe and then all my save files are reverted to back when I first loaded the program.
ePSXe has a lot of problems with this game. Use PSXeven or SSSPSX instead :)
Don't use Savestates with problematic games like this
That's what I thought at first, so I started a new game w/o save states. The same thing happened. It doesn't happen very often though.
with a little more testing, i *think* the best way to get past a crash is to load from a memory card save inside the dungeon you're in. luckily, you can save anywhere in P2.
Psxeven works fine, and Epsxe will work fine if you use the Kazzuya GPU Plugin.
Grab it from: http://www.kazzuya.com/
It's old now but is a good soft plugin.
The savestates don't make any errors...
I believe that's enough.
The Kazzuya GPU plugin is somewhat outdated and the P.E.Op.S Software Plugin has replaced this plugin.

And a note: One thread is enough.

Savestates can cause problems with certain games and are highly NOT recommanded to be used.
well, at least this thread isnt over a year old
Ugh, Kazzuya's plugin makes the game look rather ugly. The graphics are quite jagged, and things get worse inside the "dungeons," even after I play around with the settings.

Besides, an old thread (I think it's in the archive) suggests another solution: get a version of Pete's GPU plugin before 1.60 (the one that has the Soul Hackers fix), and add the command line:

-noignorecmd

BTW, I don't think it's such a bad idea to reply to old threads, the first thing I do is always search the forum before asking questions, those old threads also show up. I don't see the point in reviving three threads in a row though.

well it's useless to revive a 2 year old thread that someone asked for help in. do you think anyone really cares 2 years later? either they found the answer, or they dont care.

and what this guy did was discover this "fix" (if you can call it that) and just searched for all the threads about it and made useless responses. not cool zeus :nono:

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
