Okay perhaps my last post was a bit hasty... Let me restate what I need. I want to emulate dreamcast with chankast on my pc for two reasons, a) less clutter around the house b) i recently split my av cable in two.

Basically i am a major newbie to emulation and need help getting started. I have several games I would like to play again (namely my KoF Evolution and Soul Calibur and PSO disk's). What I need to know is how to make it so I can just pop in my disk and play... could i get some help please?

if you want to "pop in your disk [sic] and play" then you're gonna need to stick it in the dreamcast.

else, get a BBA and dump the game.

Or a serial cable, but as you already pointed out this also leads to a dead end, so unfortunately you can't be helped the legal way, here at emuforums.

Just get a new AV cable! Chankast can’t play most Dreamcast games correctly anyway. or if you just want to play its games on your PC monitor. get a Dreamcast VGA adaptor. both can be had for very little expense.

^^^^ You mind explaining that in more detail, so i can understand. You saying i can play my real dreamcast disc on my computer?
Nope, the way he's saying it is that you still have to use the Dreamcast to play your games but the video will be displayed on your monitor with the use of a VGA adapter

and DC had an official VGA box too, supported by some games for hi res
yep, i use to have it, unfortunately there was some games that refused to support it which was annoying, but it did make games look sweet :D

I still need to get myself one, I'm stuck on RGB now (not that bad either ;) )

Does VGA not make the imperfections more noticable? And if you are playing on a 17" monitor does it not make the low resolution more apparent? Or is the DC's AA good enough to hide the fact it's only 640x480?
