I was just wondering what is your idea of a perfect game, just give a discription.
Your perfect game has already been made, which one is it?
As for me,Im still waiting for that one perfect star wars game..
And I also saw the animatrix recently and thought" why isnt there a game based on the animatrix,i think that would an awsome game, with cell shading and story lines before the orignal movie..

300 hours long (well, maybe not three hundred, but very long), a plot that's strong throughout but allows freedom, a cast of completely amazing characters, a soundtrack that is simply without peer. I figure this game will be made...never. Xenogears came darn close to that description, were it not for that whole disk 2 thing.

The perfect games eh? Do we take cost (customer side) into account? :p

Multiplayer (but not for FPS) - Halo. I like how easy it is to do a LAN party with it. (hopefully Killzone? ;), yeah I know, I've been mentioning Killzone > 20 times already)

RPG - Final Fantasy but with the world more realistic, more cities, more people, more realistic, more emotions, make it come to life. I thought the Gardens in FF8 was an excellent idea; they felt like nice studying environment ;). Too bad there were only a few of them.

Action RPG - Diablo 2. Let's see...something like Doom 3's graphics with everything else the same would be just fine. Oh, it would be nice if it's more team-oriented.

The entire line of Sangoku - If only Koei would put some graphics work they did on Dynasty Warriors in them, they'd be perfect.

Nel got it. So far, I'd have to say FF7. Yes I know that's cliché, but I loved how it started and just through you into the game, how the main charecter was cocky and his past was misterious; it had the right amount of cussing and you got to dress up as a whore (well, kind of0). Plus there was so much more to do on top of a already thick story. Xenogears was dame good to, I'm so pissed cause I lost my save when I formated my backup hd by mistake, I now have to replay like 25 hours.

Think on the bright side; you are replaying a great game and it would be fun. When I lost my Soul Calibur 2 save, man, was it painful.

...hmmm.... yes.... the -one- perfect game....

I guess, for me it would be a game that doesn't just offer me an unprecedented gaming experience, but also one that keeps me coming back to play again and again.

A game that closely resembles what I ask from a "perfect" game, is already out, for quite some time. ;)
It's called Elite and I played it for the first time 20 years ago on a friend's BBC .

I have played every version available (except the Einstein one) , and yes, I still make a "trading run" from time to time.... it just never gets old. :D

The "Perfect Game" in my opinion would be a perfect harmony of a final fantasy style console rpg combined with an mmorpg. Free to follow the plot lines...free to interact with people acress the world....

Elite ... If you liked that game, I'd recommend "X - Beyond the Frontier" (I don't know how the new X² plays, but the prequel was stunningly complex).

...yep !! ...got it the very first day it was out !! :D (...I usually buy "Elite-clone" games at the earliest opportunity. ;) )

...thankfully, it was released in Europe first (the German version being the very first one, since it's a German game IIRC), so I didn't have to wait too long for it. :)

the perfect game...
well games must be different so you can have a good variety of fun. I like sports games (mainly soccer), FPS's, RTS's and mostly RPG's

for me the perfect game would be an RPG, with
lots of immersion and interactivity
a really good storyline with branches and twisting plots and personal character background story all with good storytelling
random content generation (for NPC's, quests, dungeons, weapons, items, and a big etc)
great music (chrono series?)
some nice voice acting
great controls (fps-like controls, PC game with mouse+keyboard, without freelook it wouldn't be the perfect game)
multiplayer: co-operative and arena/ctf and other cool multiplayer modes (probably not an MMORPG though)
every single little graphic detail (not talking about impressive graphics, but lots of small details like weather, particles everywhere, birds, and a big etc)
medieval weapons (swords, etc) no matter the time scene
but most importantly, a great gameplay. starting with a real-time fighting system with skills and magic, driven by really accurate physics (detailed bounding volumes, ragdoll for characters and weapons that can fall) with locational damage, weapon clashing, the best mix between characte skill (exp points, etc) and player skill with "gradient" character progressing (progression being independent for each stat/skill/magic) and "gradient" character classes (based on the individual stat/skill/magic progression)

all of that and lots (and I mean lots) of really small details

___
and here comes a little bit of self-promotion...
while I don't claim that my project is going to be the perfect game or that it's going to include all of the things I stated above, we're still going to do our best effort
I work on an indy freelance game project, a medieval-fantasy RPG with plans of doing as much of the features I stated above as possible (voice acting and other stuff will be impossible though)
anyway, we're in alpha state (crappy playable, but playable) our unattended homepage is at http://www.elium.tk and our image bin is located at http://shalinor.circustent.us/elium/screen_shots/ (just note that the GUI images are fakes)
our team is made up of 3 people (im in charge of the art, there's one programmer, and a musician+writer), and although we don't want to expand much yet, we could really use another programmer...

anyway enough self-promotion for today, sorry but the perfect game for me doesn't exist yet, so I intend to at least try and develop something close to it

Uh huh. Now that you mention it, I was always wondering about the meaning of your "avatar".

...hehe!! ...it's pretty much a dead giveaway, isn't it ? :D
...when I had my first 15 posts I initially considered putting a rotating Cobra Mk3 for my avatar, but the GIF was above the forum's Kb limit, so I chose a simple Elite-logo instead... :)

Freedom as the one seen in Fallout or Planetscape torment + characters with superb personalities like the ones in the Sakura Taisen series or, once again, Planetscape Torment + umatched soundtrack (too many STs come to mind so I can't put one as an example) + innovative gameplay + a plot which doesn't revolve about an evil guy which later turns to be a puppet of the real evil guy who is intent of destroying the whole 'verse (yeah... I'm fed up with RPGs and mostly with FF)... that should be enough to create something memorable.

I like Kaiser's idea.

But a perfect game for me would take place in the Fallout universe or something like that, with a mix of current and futuristic weapons, superb adult (not pornographic, but grown up language like in Fallout) dialogue, a fighting system that can be switched from turn-based to real-time/FPS. And it must have a character building system like Fallout's SPECIAL system, and the world must react to everything the player does.

I personally like a short but sweet game. Playing for 100's of hours bores e. So far a perfect game for me would be Ratchet and Clank (the original) I loved it because there was killing, comedy, tons of fun, freedom and some nice graphics to top the cake with. Maybe not 100% perfect but damn close :)

That's what i was about to say :p. I have the shortest attention span ever so a great game thats only like 10 hours and less would be preferable. Max Payne 2 was my kinda game, its short, awesome, great story, and i can play it over and over and not get bored. Call of Duty was short and sweet with great multiplayer, just those types of games.

My perfect game would be a gundam fps for the PC.
Something along the lines of Federation vs Zeon but it would play like a FPS. It would have a ton of useable mobile suits from the early UC era. It would employ the source engine. The graphics will have highly detailed 3d models and environments. The physics will make you believe you are in the cockpit of a 60ft mech, and as such falling objects will seem to fall slowly. Rather than lightning fast reflexes and godly aim(although like any fps they will help), the game will reward you more for your wits. The game would be slow-paced like Federation vs Zeon(not too slow but definately not some crazy lightning fast gundam wing crap) but would require strategy and teamplay. One shot from a beam rifle to the chest or a few good shots from a machine gun can be enough to disable you. Headshots will not kill you, and will do minimal damage, but you will be blinded. You cannot fly in the game but you can jump quite high with the boosters. The stages will take place in many different places such as cities where you can hide behind buildings for cover and even destroy them in your way, and out in the mountain forests where zakus can gain advantage by seeking camoflauge in the trees.

A huge part of the game would be online multiplayer. There would be a multiple game objectives that depend on the stages. An average game would be 3vs3 or 4vs4 teamplay deathmatch. The game will be set up like Rainbow Six game where you pick your teams, weapons, etc before you fight.

Since all the mobile suits of each factions have different abilities, they will be balanced for fair gameplay. The game will employ something like a ratio system like in fighting games. For example the strongest mobile suits will take up three slots and the weakest will take up one. A strong mobile suit like a Gundam will likely take up three slots. A weak one like a Zaku I will take one slot and a Zaku II will take two slots. If the limit that the game is set at is 3 slots per player then you can pick one Zaku I(+1) and a Zaku II(+2) if you're on Zeon. If you're federation and you pick a Gundam(+3) then you only get one suit. If you have more than one MS you will respawn if you die. The ratio system is optional though.

Yea. I usually don't go crazy playing a game every day for 5+ hours a day. So a short game still takes me a long time to finish :p

yea, if i was really bored i could play through Call of Duty in 1 sitting, and max payne 2 in like 2...normally i only play like 1 level of a game (depending on length) and then take a break. Especially like doom3, i still haven't beaten it, taking my sweet little time :p.
