For some odd reason I can't get the cheats to on FF7, but pec works fine on other FF# games. Is anyone else have this problem, any solutions?

Also, I can't seem to get the swirl effect when going into battle in FF7. Right now, the offscreen is set on "basic", but even with the offscren setting on "extra+fbr" or "full", I still can't get the swirl effect. Here are my settings:

Well, the swirl effect seems to be a special PSX-effect, it doesn't work in FF9 either. Well, at least it don't works there when you are not on the world map.
You'll get that in emulated VRAM-mode (at least you can activate that in Pete's Glide Drivers, I just haven't tried the other plugins that much), but that's rather slow.
You may try it - but I can tell you that a PIII/800/256MB with Geforce2 is NOT fast enough to handle this with 50fps all the time.

Oh, but there is alway the possibility you get the PC-original, just worked fine by me! (unlike the FF8-PC version!) :D

No, get out you all there! Don't punch me!:p

You can check the swirl effects and other snap shots of FF7 here:

If the swirls are too slow then, Just play without em.. Specktakulum is right about one thing.. The swirls don't seem work while you are in a town or dungeon.. Only seems to work when you are on the world map..

Yep, sorry, I always get glide and openGl mixed up!
My swirl works just fine too - but, same as you stated, only on worldmap. The slowdown only appears when the 3D-thing / VRAM is emulated.

full, read/write

Thanks fivefeet8, but for some reason setting to "read/write" and "full" offscreen still doesn't work. THe screen just turns blank and slows down even more.

[Note: "Extreme Sarcasm" (tm) used in this post - beware]

Sounds like it doesn't work.
Therefore, I officially announce The End Of The World.
Please pack up all your belongings, and form an orderly queue awaiting Judgement.
Thank You.

Harhar... Kingdom come... and I thought it would be because of "ooohhh, the FF8 startup screens are soooo slow with Pete's OGL" or "WHY 2D BACKGROUND GFX ARE LOOKING LIKE SHIT ON HW/ACCEL GPUS?" or [insert whatever complain that comes into your mind here] :)

Well, I am glad that Lewpy is to blame for bringing in the Final Judgment Day, and not me ;)
