There are artifacts all over the place, possibly because I am not handling RGB and ARGB textures separately and the extreme upscaling that was used. I don't really care what looks best for now, because I wanted to see what was possible and how many changes it would require. Personally what I think looks best as far as textures are conserned is this one, which is 2xBRZ into bicubic to double size.
This looks really good I hope you can release this soon.

I

I followed your instructions and got to this page: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/icatbutler/pcsxr/build/job/8uphura1vw2yxa4n/artifacts
But when I downloaded it, all that was in the folder was a plugins folder and pcsxr-pgxp.exe. Where do you get the regular pcsxr.exe file and stuff? Don't you need that (and a bios folder, etc.) for everything to work? And why is there a plugins folder in here? None of the plugins seem to be what the first post refers to anyway. Please helpppp
You need to extract the PGXP files into an existing PCSXR installation. You can get those files here for instance: https://www.emucr.com/2019/03/pcsx-reloaded-git-20190307.html
also Pete's OPenGL 2 plugin: http://www.pbernert.com/html/gpu.htm#OGL2
You don't need to worry about the pcsxr.exe as you will be using the pcsxr-pgxp.exe from now on. Don't forget to set PeteOpenGL2 Tweaks 2.4 as your graphics plugin. I feel like Icatbutler should include all those files to make it easier for people to get started with pgxp.

It is not true that PCSXR-PGXP does not have good examples of emulation. Of course it does. However, as your library grows, you will essentially have two problems: (a) audio emulation and (b) video emulation. both plugins for PCSXR-PGXP are NOT updated for over 10 or 15 years while Beetle HW PSX is based on Mednafen which is updated to date. Video plugins have been hacked, but have not been updated. Do you see the difference?

Yes, you will be able to list several emulator videos working fine. But it's only when you start playing using your favorite game library that you'll understand why there are so many people recommending RetroArch Beetle HW PSX for system with support for OpenGL 3.3+ or Vulkan.

What's more, you need to give examples of games you've played and remembered on the original console. Many people prefer elevation of internal resolution at the cost of missing screens, missing effects, missing menus, etc. It's not my case. I prefer first having 100% graphical fidelity in emulation, and after reaching this goal if possible some improvement. But without fidelity, I see no reason to use the emulator or plugin.

RetroArch takes time to learn, but time pays off. It is the closest high-fidelity emulation and high graphics enhancement for PSX available to those who have GPUs with OpenGL 3.3+ or Vulkan support.

cheers!
Would it be possible to make a PCSXR-style GUI just for beetle core? I hate the RetroArch GUI with a passion and I really don't need all the other options. It's a really bloated program with a terrible GUI that reminds me of the menu on my old PSP from the mid 00's...

eeehhh that video looks nasty.. waaaay to much xbr filtering....16bit color, no diterhing at all so you gat lots of color banding and FB effects have the rolling line issue....I am heading to work at the moment, but when I get home I will make a video of how i SHOULD look
I agree lol. I found that xbrz scale looks much better at 3 or 4 (at least for PS1 games). The higher settings are just wayyy too sharp, it ruins the color gradients. By the way, some additional Reshade SMAA, color boosting and sharpening can work wonders on PS1 games.

There is activity:

The problem is that there is no "leading" fork.
The differences between each project file are so different that practically each one could be classified as a independent emulator.
Plugins do not share common code between platforms. The only thing they have in common with plugins is the "modular" part.

From my perspective, the only PSX emulators that have potential are Mednafen PSX, Beetle PSX*, XEBRA, Avocado and DuckStation.
Other emulators to keep in mind, PSXACT, Rustation NG and PCSX-ReARMed.
I think Beetle PSX looks the most promising of them all but it only works with RetroArch. Just give me beetle PSX with a PCSX/ePSXe-like GUI and I would be happy.

Hello to all. I made my own version of the PCSXR-PGXP emulator. I have been working on tuning for a very long time. Now both picture and sound are perfect. Everything works without problems. The emulator settings should be strictly the same as in the description of this topic. Please read

Your own version? You just pre-applied some settings, dude. Lame.

Hi all!
Made an account just for trying to ask for help,

I'm trying to set up Silent Hill 1 using PCSXR-PGXP but haven't been able to launch it. I managed to launch it using standard PCSXR but after fiddling with memory errors (having to create a "games" folder inside the memory folder) I know only get a grey screen when trying to launch it with PGXP. Don't know if it's the memory card that still is the culprit. I have tried launching with bios, with or without plugins like Pete's OpenGL2 and Tweaks, Eternal SPU for sound, Lilypad etc.

Thanks for any help.
I would recommend you switch to Duckstation cause emu this is basically dead. It basically has all the features that PCSXR-PGXP has, except you can't set a XBRz multiplier, you can just turn it on or off.
