Thanks do you know if I need any "special game fixes" for Silent Hill? I see you have that checked
I recommend playing Silent Hill with 1.5x overclock. This will result in faster music and slightly faster gameplay (which is not a bad thing for this game, in my opinion) and most notably, higher and much more pleaseant frame rate. Be sure to turn it off for other games though, because it doesn't work well with every game.

I tried this and all it did was make the voice acting choppy and I didn't see much of a difference in framerate. Soon as I set it back to normal the problem went away. I probably have something else configured wrong.
You have to use Eternal SPU plugin with SPUAsync and Async mode: smooth, that works well for me here. The difference in frame rate is pretty drastic actually, so you should see a difference.

NVIDIA will also release (has already, I actually don't know XD) the GTX1050 and 1050ti (US$110 and US$140). But looking at those prices equivalent around here... man, makes me sad (R$599 and R$749, minimum wage here is R$880 for comparison :().
Try to save as much money as you can, and then get PC that lasts for 4-5 years. That's what I do anyways.

You have two ways of playing the Dreamcast version. Nulldc, graphical glitches. Demul, slowdown.

Believe me, playing on Nulldc doesn't do this game justice. The PC version will literally be better for you in a graphical way because of the glitches.
I can give you the PC version.

BTW, even I experience slowdown when trying Rayman DC on Demul. And I remember posting my PC specs once before here.

EDIT: Wow, I even forgot mentioning the PS1 version.
Don't even bother optimising it for PCSX-R. It's just Rayman 2 ripped apart.
There's also reicast, originally a dreamcast emulator for android but it has Windows builds: http://builds.reicast.com/

I just tested Final Fantasy VIII. It doesn't run at all, I get a black screen. I tried leaving every setting at standard, no tweaks: still back screen.

The same iso is running in ePSXe, but not in PCSXR.

Anyone? I can't be the only one that wants to play FF VIII on PCSX-R...

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently the game needs to be .ppf patched. Which is weird because the same image does run in a different emulator without the patch.

No idea what you're talking about. I have no trouble running any FFVIII image or CD I have, no need for any sort of patch. What exactly did you have to patch, anyway?
Apparently the game relies on some sort of copy protection using subchannel data on the disk, which doesn't get dumped if you create an ISO the normal way. You can bypass this using a ppf patch specific to your version (I have the german version of the game). ePSXe seems to have a patch built in, that bypasses this protection by default.

Most PS1 games have an internal frame limit of 30 so you won't get 60 fps in non-60fps games, even if you overclock. All it does is getting the game closer to the maximum possible frame rate, which the game would not reach without the overclock, most of the time. Silent Hill for instance has a lot of frame drops at standard clock, and runs at a smooth 30fps with a 1.5 overclock, although people have reported it breaks some puzzles. For that reason, I would like a 1.25 overclock feature to see if it improves things.

While we're on the topic of performance.. may I ask, why is it like WAY easier to emulate N64 than it is Playstation?
Playstation is actually weaker than N64, but it's harder for me to run PSX emulation at full speed on higher settings.
Yet, when I do the same with N64, it holds up perfectly at max FPS the majority of the time.
Weird, I always thought it was the other way round. PSX emulation usually runs pretty well even on very low end hardware, only if you make use of advanced features such as PGXP and xbrz filtering it eats more resources.

Ehm.... I've tried using this and I get all graphic garbage, texture missing or positioned elsewhere... everything is a mess...
What did I do wrong? And I didn't activated any pgxp options...
Are there any issues with Nvidia graphic cards or Win10? I've got a GTX 760...
Downloaded latest build WIP_PGXP_build_17_03_19
Pcsxr is 1.9.93
Can you post a screenshot of your graphics plugin config window?

An open source plugin with modern opengl functions would be beneficial.
It would be more easily to further develop PGXP. The achievements are great.
But with an accurate and open plugin the potential would be even higher.

Same applies for the audio plugin. With an appropiate open source audio plugin, enhancements could be made more easily to improve the overall experiences (like the overclocking feature)
Both the PEOPS and the Eternal SPU already come with the source, though.
