basically my hard drive is preventing me from running it. ive since then uninstalled it. i cant remember the exact message the system reported to me but it said something about hard drive compression i believe. i was wonderin if this was a compatibility issue with windows7 or is it that i didnt install the upgrade on a new partition?

could be a permissions issue i guess :\

folder permissions can differ from account permissions, and folder permissions have a tendancy to bork up.

O.K...right off the gate I must say that I am a COMPLETE noob when it comes to PSX2.
It seems that no matter what I do I'm get the same type of error...GS plugin failed to load. No matter what I do...completely dead. Here's the REAL sad part...I have like the latest and greatest (not to bragg or anything) laptop out there. It's a Genuine AMD x2 running with an ATI Radeon, 3GB RAM, and like about 200GB HD Space!!! It's sad to see everyone reporting that Windows 7 is getting along great with the PSX2 emu and I can't even get ONE gameplay in?!?! Sorry, but like WT*!!!

Oh...almost forgot to mention that I've even tried all know permission workarounds out there right now. I even went as far as putting the whole PSX2 directory right in my own games folder for my user profile!!! I must be missing something BIG and/or PSX2 is a bit rougher to handle than the average emu.

You'll have to prepare a bug report, complete with screenshots of console output, if possible.
Yes, pcsx2 may be harder to use, you'll have to put some effort into it I'm afraid.
We tried to cut down on problems like these, but then cam Microsoft with their UAC :p

Good God, man. I hope you're being sarcastic.

Seeing that it is an AMD x2 and a laptop, you probably won't get a very enjoyable gameplay experience out of that system.

I had that issue, needed to run directx runtime that will update the graphics card up to dx11
I agree. Except for the DX11 part.

Nah. There won't be any DX11 support for a while as I understand it. Even so, you will still need a DX11 capable GPU. (ATI Radeon 5XXX series or nVidia NV100 (Fermi))

O.K...maybe I wasn't specifying my system enough for everyone.
Here's a more technical and specific approach. PLS let me know if I could provide anything else to anyone that's not included herein. Thnx :innocent:
So...in conclusing as it stands right now I'm still crashing and burning with that same fatal error at the end saying that the GS failed to initialize/load.
I attached all the jpeg files with this message that hopefully will help out.

Yeah, I don't want to rain on your parade about your pride with your laptop, but that CPU is budget level now, the GPU is really a budget level IGP (integrated joke), and 200GB of space is nothing these days. 3GB RAM is okay, but nothing special either. I hate to say it, but that's not even close to the latest and greatest, not even for a laptop. If that were a desktop, it'd be a joke (not by itself, but compared to the real latest and greatest).

The CPU is barely good enough for PCSX2, and the IGP will limit you even more. Since those are the two most important parts for PCSX2, you're kind of stuck. I mean, I'm sure it's a wonderful laptop, but sometimes people go overboard thinking new equals fast or powerful. To get a top of the line laptop, I think you'd be looking at about at least $1500. A $700-$800 laptop will be good, but basic (maybe a step above at most) PC.

As for your problem getting it running, post how you have PCSX2 configured (at least the video plug-in, but the CPU and other main ones would help too).
