Hi.

My Computer specs are as follows:

Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 series motherboard
Intel Dual Core 2.4Ghz CPU
Creative Live 5.1 Soundcard
NVidia GeForce 8800 GTX
260GB SATA Harddrive
2GB Ram
700 Wat PSU

Ok here is my problem, when i run a PS2 game from a DVD the sound is choppy and also it keeps looping and also the game lags. Now i thought a system of my spec would run PCSX2 without any problems. I keep the emulator up to date and also download all the latest plugins. I have tried different settings and plugins but it still the same.

Anyone knows what might be causing this problem? Or has the best settings to use?

You'll need to overclock your Q6600 to about 3Ghz.

try making an ISO image of your dvd and then try. images read faster than a dvd in a dvd drive.
also which game are you trying to run, not all games run at full speed.

Hi and thank you for your replies.

First, i will try and overclock my CPU.
Secondly, the games i am trying to run are, POP Warrior Within, Castlevania Curse of Darkness.. Will try an ISO and see if that makes any difference.

Before getting you into the OC issue, try to make an ISO, it DOES improve a lot the perfomance

You could also try to disable all tasks that might get acess to your drive like autostart, antivirus (disable inet connection first, in any case ), CD burning tools and so on.

Other programs accessing the drive won't be an issue. Even if these programs slightly delay a read to the hard drive, it's still a lot faster than a read from a DVD drive.

checking your display card setting, it is default with quality, change it to balance or effectiveness.
