Please, don't take it as an insult

Before we begin to discuss about pc engine I just ask you all to be polite
to answear my questions. Think over a bit.

I'm looking foward to seeing games like Ps3 games running on my machine, but I'm really concerned about this situation, when Ps3 is out what will happen to pc, how long will pc survive with the Ps3 arrival? (I mean "When they decide to port ps3 games onto pc, will they reduce graphics quality?
From the Emulators I found out something I'd never really expected to see, I was happy as I knew that pc can handle graphics like Resident Evil 4 (GC), Final Fantasy X (PS2) or whichever is it. And I wonder when/if there'll be games like that for pc (Many games like Prey, X3 Reunion are similar to Final Fantasy VII (Ps3). I'm just posting out this subject to show it to the public (so they can straight it up), I really want to know if pc will own ps3 games at all. I just think that pc is growing up fast and it's about to take out any consoles of the century. Pc is growing up fast along the consoles uprising.

See these screenshots below

So here's my question!!!
Is pc capable to handle ps3 graphics at all?
Just don't tell me that ps3 has a powerfull videocard, better than 2xGeforce Fx 6800, I already know that.

next gem consoles are impressive but they are going to be supassed by high end computers in a few months after release, remember the PS3 and X360 uses GPUs that are about one generation ahead of the current king and you know how fast new video cards get released, I would say unless the post X800 Radeons or the Gforce 7800 gets seriously delayed by the time the PS3 and X360 gets released it would be equivlent to a high end PC at a much lower price and after a few months equal to a mid range PC

Besides how are most people going to play FPS and especiaily games properly with a gamepad

edit:
the shots of FF7 is likely prerended FMY rather than ingame, squaresoft has already tried to pass FMVs off as ingame shots in other games

Ever notice that usaily after we reply to a thread that we notice it's in the wrong section

yeah, the same happened to ps2 and xbox, both were considered pc killers but now both are inferior to pc, I'm hoping the same to ps3 and xbox360. may the fate decide who's the best.

Considering the FF demo was made with a Pre-release Cell workstation equipped with a prototype NVIDIA G70 (not to be confused with the PS3 RSX. According to NVIDIA both GPUs will be completely different, at least in power anyway)

We likely can expect comparable visuals. It’s more likely that CPUs might not be able to keep up with game consoles. So the inclusion of a PPU (physics processing unit) will likely be necessary, driving the cost of PC gaming even higher.

(Not to mention adding an adequate APU and faster more expensive RAM then DDR 1 or 2)

Kitase also revealed the Final Fantasy VII technical PS3 demo was actually a rush job, created in just a month and a half. "We created [it] right before E3. I didn't think we could do it at first, but I called Sugimoto (Koji Sugimoto, FFX’s main programmer), and we somehow made it. I believe that if we had more time, we could have made it in a higher quality. In that sense, that demo didn't really take much advantage of the PS3's hardware specs. But still, we were able to make something that looked that good."

I think the high end PC market will just be in limbo for a few years while these new consoles have their fun in the sun, but PCs will always make a come-back. There are always certain types of games that fit better with a keyboard and mouse close to an extremely clear, high-resolution screen. MMORPGs and what not.

What I'm looking at though is the low-end PC market. Integrated, cheaper technologies of higher and higher quality have developed over the years, allowing for smaller, cheaper PCs that make two and three year-old used PCs look incredibly slow while costing less.

It won't be long before the home PC become as common or more common than TVs.

There's a large possible market out there full of people for whom the cost of a new computer is currently greater than the benefits of having one, but we'll soon be tapping into that market.

I'm not about to pick sides, but one argument was a little silly.

If keyboard and mouse and high res monitors are important enough to gaming, they will all become common on the gaming consoles. Saying that, the PC is a better gaming machine because of this interface, is a little off.

3D acceleration is the current PC advantage. The question is when development in this area will mature enough that this advantage becomes obsolete.

Does anyone think extra things will be sooner or later built on to other things to keep costs down? (PPU, and whatever maybe next) About the mouse and keyboard thing, I think if the ps3 does things well enough(or even the other platforms), people will just take their usb keyboard and mouse and plug it into the console...I pesonally like the pc just the same any console, if it has good games...and if I own it...haha

Console controllers have the advantage when it comes to games that need precise directional movements like platformers and games that have fast pased close combat, while the K/B+Mouse is better for games that require fast precise clicks on screen like FPS and RTS games, GTA:SA was easier to drive and chase someone down on the PS2 while it's easier to survive a gunfight on the PC

in the case of ps3 tho...how is the pc supposed to beat something that grows more and more powerful the more units are sold (cell)....unless if they start to implement cell in pcs o_O

If you add a keyboard, a mouse, and a hi res monitor to a console, then why not install an OS that lets you do productivity stuff and call it a PC? See the problem what your argument?

ps2 is still a pc killer i dont own it cuz my dad wont buy me a game console
but i upgrade my pc every once and a whilefor games when there is cash
but for gaming i prefer ps2 man game consoles r made for games regardless of what pcs can do if u put 2X485$on geforce 6800 ultra i mean the console is cheaper and it sure has many exclusive games to play on

I think my IQ just plummeted from reading that
hmm....interesting. i surely wish i had that kinda power :p

but really, i thot my point was intuitive >_<

-ps3 uses cell technology, which supposedly does something like distributed computing whereby idle computation power is shared by all ps3s in the world (???)
-if this is the case, then the more units of ps3/cell-implemented machines sold, the more cell power there is to distribute
-on the end, it wud seem that there is no possible way for any pc to catch up to the power of a ps3

then again, mebe your iq plummeted because of the imagined scale of what i said ?? i have no idea o_O

I remember the first screens of DOOM 3, they where so exagerated (to make them look better than they actually are)...

the ps3 will be out early next year, while it's true it has a video card as powerful as about 2 geforcefx 6800 with all the extra sweets it is not yet to dethrone the PC. THe PC will be superbly more powerful by then though perhaps when the ps3/xbox360/nintendo revolution finally arrive the pc may not be as powerful as they are they will catch up ver quickly. Even now game engines for the PC like source if modified appropriately and put on a faster than today's PC will look like those games if not better.

However you must understand that these consoles are games consoles and their purpouse is for entertaining, so eventually one day they may or will replace the PC, unless you can afford two SLI ATI 256 DDR x850xt running on a 4.5 GHZ dual core processor by next year though I must say that it looks like these games if they are all they are hyped up to be (probably not though...) they will really kill the PC as an entertainment unit.

It may be with these next geners but all this hype is probably because Nintendo/Microsoft/SOny all wan't the crown for best of the best console with these upcomers.
Anyway relax with what these machines got in'em they will probably cost the price of a fully fledged gaming PC when they comeout.

Oh yea forgot one thing, these are next gen consoles, so there engines are also, well next gen. There was a preview of the unreal tournament engine for 2006 and the graphics on it looked better on the preview than they do on those ps3 games. The guys claim that the engine was running on an radeon 9600 pro at the time, and the graphics were pretty good. If the engine was truly that scalable, it must just be new cheap innovative technology thats making those games look really good thats all...
