Ok, so I would like to install an os onto a usb stick, which ones do you guys recomend? I am thinking of using ubuntu 8.10 and doing a full install onto usb. What I would like to know is:

- What are all of my usb os options.
- Of those options which ones are better/why?
- Will a usb install change my MBR?
- Can I use a usb os on any computer I like, or does it marry to the comp that was used to install?

I would like to use this as an alternative on my wife's work laptop as to not change anything on the internal drive at all and thought that this would work quite well. Any help/ideas would be great.

Thanks
sbp

- no it doesnt change your MBR,
- you should give Pendrive linux 2008, Damn Small Linux or Slax a chance, which are better for USB.
- "live linux" dont change anything on computers which and work on most computers which have usb boot support.
- for more info go google and look for pendrivelinux.
