Hi

Well it seems I only ever end up posting here when I have gamepad problems, which is a little cheeky but here I am nontheless. Over the christmas period I reinstalled windows on my PC. I left both my Epsxe 1.60 and 1.52 directories untouched, and just created new shortcuts for them within the fresh windows installation. I fired up Epsxe 1.52 to play Final Fantasy 9, and all my configuration data was gone. Not surprising since i`d reinstalled windows. So I set about reconfiguring the emulator and got as far as configuring the joypads. I am using a SmartJoy Plus USB adaptor with its drivers installed for force feedback, with an official Sony DualShock2 joypad. Now, Epsxe will not let me configure ANYTHING for the analog sticks! I have the pad type set to Analog/Digital and if I click on the analog sticks it just says "edit axis: Y1" (or whichever axis it is) and it wont let me configure it to anything! Not a key press, not a button on my pad, NOTHING. I know EpsxE can read the analog sticks on the pad just fine, because I can for example configure the pad to use the analog sticks for the digital up/down/left/right!

I should also add that I tried the pad configuration utility as mentioned in the sticky at the top of the forum, and that let me set the pad up just fine and dandy, but once epsxe was running the analog sticks were not recognised. Furthermore, I do not have this problem in Epsxe v1.60, but since that has poor compatibility with a number of games (FF9 and Micro Machines, that I play often) I really need V1.52. Can anyone help? I know Epsxe should work with my pad as I`m quite sure i`ve had it working before.

I was wondering whether the controller requires calibration through the Control Panel.

Thanks for your help Lyz :) You can calibrate it through the control panel. I am wondering if Epsxe 1.52 is not compatible with smartjoys drivers? The pad is in analog mode and the analog sticks are working according to the joystick control panel, they are also working in epsxe v1.60

The only thing I can think that I have done differently is install the Smartjoy plus drivers (which gives the pad force feedback support) I don`t think I had them installed last time. I notice you can`t configure the analog sticks to a key or a button like you can all the other pad imputs, this does sort of make sense, since a keypress is digital. When you install the smartjoy drivers it gives all the inputs different names, for example analog stick 1 up/down shows up as J1_LY in Epsxe V1.60. Perhaps V1.52 thinks the inputs are not analog so won`t allow you to set them up as such?

tried F5 during the game still won`t work. Red light is on. Should I try a pad plugin can you reccomend one?

"Note that you can't use PAD plugins in ePSXe. You gotta use a frontend. The recommanded one is the hariki(?) plugin. Try d/ling that in "

Well I don`t really understand that but I will go search for this plugin and let you know thanks again for the help :)

Ahh your right, not supported by Epsxe, looks like this is a deadend then, I reccomend anyone who has a smartjoy plus NOT to install the drivers that come with it !
