Just before I post this question i'd like to point out that I know games do not work yet and I am not one of those who expects them to! I'm using PCSX2 purely out of interest :)

Now the question, I can't get any of my PS2 discs to boot up. I've tried using both "Run CD" and "Execute" options, the latter seems to get further but I still cannot get anything other than a blank screen. The emulator is all properly configure to the best of my knowledge, and I've tried different plugins and options etc, but still nothing. An example is Smackdown Vs Raw, which i've seen screenshots of getting somehwere. I try it and I get a few "DVD read" lines but then it just stops and does nothing else (see attachment)

So - am i missing something?!

Hmm you apparently didn't read my post properly.I *KNOW* games don't work, but some of the games I have 'tested' which other people have uploaded screenshots of do nothiong whatsoever, not even any CD/DVD access. It just sits there doing nothing. These are also games which showed signs of booting up on version 0.7

PCSX2 0.8 SSE
GsDX9 07. PS 1.4
Recompiler & VUrecs
SPU 2 Sound Driver 1.2 Simple Interpolation
PEops CDVD driver
SSSPSX Pad Plugin 1.4
BIOS US V 1.60
Firewire, dev9 and USB are nulled.

thats the setup the guy used to get smackdown working, if yours is set up exactly the same as that, i suggest you go into your bios folder n try deleting the NVM and MEC files, i find this gets a couple of games to boot that dont sometimes

Have you test it with image files or with the cd´s?

When i try to load a game from cdrom it wont work i dont know why

but when i make a image of the game with ultraiso and put it in a virtual drive like daemontools then configure that pcsx read from drive and it will work better

You must have select plugin peops cd\dvd driver 1.2 and drive from deamon thats all

Sry for my bad english

i found PeOpS CDvd 1.2 to be unreliable, if you can go to pete's site and download 1.1, it is on there, just copy the link for 1.2 and change the 2 to a 1

Well i've had a go, trying most things mentioned here such as making ISO images instead of using my CD/DVDs, and deleting the BIOS NVM and MEC files, but still no luck. For instance, Pro Evolution Soccer 2 used to get to the menus, but now it just seems to hang at the "checking for memory card" screen (and games only show something on the screen if i use the Interpreter - if I use recompiler or recompiler+vurecs I just get a blank screen all the while (as explained in top post)) I've deleted the INI files and tried starting again countless times, but I can't seem to get anything to get anywhere.

have you gone into the bios (not a game) and formatted the memory cards? cos they are unformatted with the release.

i cant understand anything else not working though, games are working as well as or even better than 0.7 here.

Yeah I had a go at formatting them because I noticed once when I went into the BIOS it asked me to format the cards, and I thought this might solve the problem, but sadly it hasn't. Is there anyway to 'unplug' the memory cards as it were? I tried deleting them but I notice the files are just re-created on startup.

better luck next time as u say, but mayb all u guys with blank screens did not read that all games are not fully playable. Theses games have errors. Nyone thought how hard the PCSX2 team had worked? They deserve better, but they'll fix all errors in no time.. Just wait around and u'll get ur slice ....

;) :thumb: best of luck :thumb: ;)

n dont bang ur head on wall coz PCSX isnt emulating "SOME games" fully :hdbash:

So you actually expect for a new release to have NOT broken ANYTHING??
Some stuff were broken since 0.7,as it always happens, but way more were fixed,so if something worked in 0.7,it may not work at all in 0.8 or vice-versa

hey Otrivin! read my post carefully <.< :"games used to work in 0.7, cant even go in game with 0.8 >.< " . I dont need u to tell me that "all the games r not fully playable"
Does Bostimon answer your question??? Honestly!! This is being awfully funny.. TuTukun, if your so smart. Fix it yourself... or use .7 ver for now, if u wanna play "those" games that did work in that version..

Maybe one of the moderators may get real annoyed and kill this thread soon enough..

Catch YA all later
