In before the Nintendo DS prints money picture :p

Seriously, congrats to Nintendo. They suprised when they managed to comeback after Gamecube. Wii and Nintendo DS are making them enough cash to buy three Japan's and two Europe's and have enough left over to buy America.

I still managed to get a draw. ;)

As a brand Nintendo is doing crazily well. I think if you'd compare it to both Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo is much more consistent at the moment and it is much easier to see what they stand for. The business model works, just like how Apple's works and how Google still has a positive image. Sony and Microsoft are the old fashioned companies who try to keep up with trends, Nintendo just set a new one.

The only thing I don't understand is that the list speaks of a diversified portfolio. Nintendo's into gaming only and hasn't spread out at all. But perhaps that's actually where its strength lies.

Sony's doing alright. They have a market in pretty much every area of electronics. I'm not 100% sure but I think they also took over a chain of restaurants (or was it hotels?) in Japan. If PS3/PSP or any future incarnation of their gaming console fails them, they can always rely on their other stuff to bail them out.

Awesome. :) Now where's the SNES2?

Jokes aside, I believe the companies were ranked by capital count... In that regard, of course Nintendo would far surpass the likes of Google or Apple. Apple is innovative, but they charge **** amount of money for their stuffs. Google probably has the best services, but most of them are free so the capital count ain't much. That's not to say Google doesn't have any money since they can leech that off the accesses from ISP providers, as well as doing ads for other companies, but that's hardly what I'd call a successful capital generator.

So it's not a surprise that Nintendo would come out on top. Ideas, innovations, whatever... in business, making money is all that's important. And Nintendo does just that. :) Now I'm happy to hear this because it means they will finally have enough funds to push their next generation console/handheld, or next generation games out! I'm all for handheld.

They were pretty good with my defective Wii problem when I first bought mine and replaced it with no problem and even paid for the shipping to and from my house (which every good company should do, but you'd be surprised to know how many make you pay for the shipping of a defective product). The customer service people were also very nice so I can't complain about them having bad customer service. :)

One of the reason why Nintendo, apple and such companies are growing atm while others not its because of innovations. in the past things went to fast and everything had to be done quick and taking many things in count such as optimizations etc because hardware were not that good.

nowdays optimizations are very important still but we have more resources and hardware power.. people now are tired of bad looking stuff because its what they´ve seen always so they are looking for new stuff with stunning visual styles regardless of what´s behind actually lol.

I'm surprised nobody's made an "Apple sucks! Macs are too f***ing expensive and iPods are over-rated" rant yet :p
Apple is a really good company and am a big fan of there producs.. the only thing stopping them from growing is there own propietary hardware which make them fail against others... if you look at MS they offer a OS but they don´t limit you on what PC hardware you should use so they use the moto "Live and let live." and that´s the key for MS success.

for example apple uses x86 architecture now and even though they don´t allow you to install there OS on a normal PC but force you to use there hardware which is no other than a normal PC hardware with a Apple logo somewhere.. but they do allow you to install Windows which to me its very stupid and selfish.

MS success is because they let others get some money too by selling there hardware and so keep them alive while earning money with there own software.
