Hey there folks

Ive got two mediocre pcs Ive got over the last few years, but now Im looking to cannabalize and make a killer pc (just buy a mobo, cpu, and vid card)

I was looking at getting this mobo

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1179727&CatId=1772

along with a amd 64 3400+ and a 6600gt sli (buy 2 when the price goes down some)

would this handle everything (doom 3, far cry, hl2)

btw my reason for doing this was my recent 3dmark score of 954
with a p4 1.8 and a 9600

cheers

A pair of 6600GTs are better than a single 6800GT in most cases.
Taking HL2: No FSAA the 6800GT wins in 1024x768, but the 6600GT SLi setup wins 1280x960 and above. Adding in FSAA moves it in favour of the 6800GT accross the board

Well, as ChrisRay said in his SLi investigation over at nVnews , dual 6600 GTs are faster than a 6800 GT in most cases. Using only one card for a time being should be fine, but I dont know how well a 6600 GT performs by itself, and then when you get the second one, you probably need a card identical to the first (dont quote me on that cause I aint sure). Also, as far as parts go, I really find newegg far better than TigerDirect. Though you have to live in the US to order from newegg, and I dont know if you live in the US or not
Edit: Kane beat me to the post.
