I snagged a used copy of Far Cry 2 not knowing it had online registration, but the interesting thing is you can "un"register the game and give it away. I guess that's true with Alone in the Dark as well.

On one hand if your computer gets fried, the hard drive dies, or you have a virus, etc, it might cause trouble, but otherwise it isn't permanent like other limit install schemes, etc.

So what do you think about this scheme?

Be careful who you buy used games from w/ this kind of DRM. I almost got pwned by an ******* selling a "like new" copy of Sacred 2. If the previous owner isn't willing (or is too dumb) to deactivate his machine, you're gonna be left with a legit copy you'll have to pirate :p
