...a stupid one... would it be possible to turn ON/OFF GPU / SPU emulation during running a game? I know it would cause timing, compatibility, etc. problems but would it work? That would be very nice so I could squeese more frames to stupid phases of the game...

I don't wanna play with sound / graphics ALL the time...
I just would want switch them off for while to get emulator
little faster because my CPU sucks... Like when your running or flying at the world map in game like Final Fantasy it would be nice to done that faster (like in Chrono Cross you can speed up the game if you need with R1 key)

I generally use frame skipping under these circumstances and usually change the pete's gpu settings for some speed gain.

just tweak your gpu plugin where u can gain speed so when u disable limit fps + frame skip it can go faster

I hope pete is reading this.
Its only slightly related with the original context. If there could be an option for how many frames you want to skip when frame skipping is turned on it could be a great help for low end pcs.Its only a suggestion,I know how hard it will be in actual.
A similar option existed in segu's d3d plugin.
