New FF7 problem

Okay, I decided to just run the game on the P4. It runs great, but once it gets to the start game screen the buttons stop responding. The hand sits pointing at "continue?" and I can't select 'new game' to start playing. Any ideas? The controller works up until then and when I run the Bios.
I'm now running on:

P4 1.3GHz
ATI Radeon 64MB DDR VI/VO
Soundblaster Live! (supposed to be 5.1, but they gave me the wrong card, so I gotta return it)
128MB RDRAM

I'm using all Pete's drivers and the OpenGL.

Thanks.

P.S. How does one insert a picture into the margin?

Okay, well, I'm not sure why, but it started working. Anyway, now that I'm in the game I see that it runs quite jittery. The graphics are shaky. How can I fix this? Thanks.
You got to configure your plugin! What plugin are you using???
If you are using Pete's, check Nice and that's a good default. If you want better, check my thread and see the suggestion people made (ar I hope the will make some).!

Try pressing F4 at this point, see if it helps.

[]s Badaro
Use old version 1.0.1 for stability!!!
JUST PRESS F4 AND THE COMMAND WILL RESPOND !!!!
I did say I'm using Pete's plug-ins. Okay, please be patient with me.

P4 1.3GHz
128MB RDRAM
ATI Radeon 64 DDR
SB Live!
Pete's plug-ins with OpenGL
Problem: Jittery graphics and tinny (awful) sound effects
I'll try pressing F4, though I don't have access to that computer at the moment. Will that also fix the sound?

PII 233MHz
96MB SDRAM
3dfx Voodoo 3 3000
ESS 16-bit sound
Pete's CD plug-in and Lewpy's Glide plug-in; no sound
Problem: I did have a problem of inconsistent frame rate, but that turned out to be the sound card. Now that I've turned off the sound it runs at a steady 50fps. The problem is the same as what I originally had with the P4, namely it sticks at the 'new game' screen. 'continue?' stays greyed and I can't select.

I am running both in version 1.01.

Thanks for any help.

yeah use epsxe v1.01
press f4 twice when you get to that screen and make sure you got sio irq checked......This fixes most memery card and controller problems for me...... Oh and make sure you have controller settings set to digital not analog.....

No, pressing F4 will not help the sound. Al pressing F4 does is enable or disable the SIO IRQ. Pressing F5 changes your controller to Digital mode. Some games require that you press frist F5 and then second F4 in order to get control working.
On the sound, which sound plugin are you using? I have had great success using Pete's Direct Sound plugin, Pete's Midas plugin vers. 1.7, and the internal SPU. I listed them in the order in which I have had the most success. Null2's SPU does not work at all for me. So you might want to try one these or the new Iori SPU that is out. I have heard that it works really really well. Best of luck.

For the menu sticking problem: Checking "ISO always enabled" must have been what I did on the P4, because it also worked on the PII. The speed and look is great, except for two problems. Some of the background pieces have a solid color border and the battle meter display is gone. I'm using Lewpy's Glide plug-in for my Voodoo3.

For the sound problem on the P4, SB Live!: I'm using Pete's DSound 1.8 with DirectX 8. I'll try Midas and see if it makes a difference.
Okay, my PII's all set up. Got everything fixed there. Just can't enable sound, because of my old sound card.

Now the only problem is jittery graphics on the P4. Specs are listed above. Thanks.
for the menu problems enable experimental flipping, and FF7 menu fix in lewpys' pluggin options........ Actually, a sblive should be enough to handle the sound with that P4..... try older nUlls spus
