Intels Ghz and AMD's Ghz cannot be compared cuz they work differently. Thats why AMD has that model numbering. 3200+ is about same speed as 3200MHz (or 3,2Ghz) Pentium4 cpu. NOT EXACTLY, but around. So in nutshell your friends AMD processor is newer and higher tech than yours, and thats why its faster.

Just a small correction to my post above. Despite having bigger number (AMD3200), its speed is equal to 3,0Ghz P4, not 3,2...
