Hey, I often work on multiple directories at a time when modding for HL2, and
I must open a window for each open directory... so I wonder, is there an alternative for Explorer that supports tabs like Firefox?

>> all I know of off hand, is like you are doing then using Alt-Tab to switch between them

I just want to have tabs in 1 window to prevent my desktop to be a big mess,
which happens pretty quick in 1024x768, when you have 4 folders open, some
DOS based compilers running, and graphic editing softwares in the taskbar...

>> it's ok, Valcrist has no idea what that is because he uses a mac
lol, what a Mac user could do on an emulation forum? :D

Wow you guys totally missed his point.

I know the feeling Mr. Killjoy as doing hl2 mapping and managing multiple directories was annoying aswell. The only thing I could suggest is using the start bar with the "Group similar taskbar buttons" option enabled.

Secondy I would suggest moving your startbar to the left or right of your screen. When the startbar is at the bottom the buttons get smaller and smaller with every window that gets opened. However on the sides of the screen each button stays the same size and you can see whats open much easier.

Thx for the tip, but that's already what I'm doing, and when I must have all of them open at once, it's all messy... I wouldn't mind it if I was running at higher resolutions.

I'll try Xplorer² when I'll get it, though it doesn't look much ergonomic
