so anyway i went out looking for a list of the top n64 games of all time. what i found boggled my mind. it talked about a game called "Sin and Punishment" that was never released in the us. i went looking for a translation patch and found a graphics plugin that rocks my mind. damn thing has more functions and checkboxes than all my defunt epsxe graphics plugins combined! lol.

it would be called "rice's video plugin 6.1.1 beta10"

i bet it can play anything :) anyone know more about it?

yo wow! That's a fun game. Anyone else played this? The telekinesis battleship fight was my fave.

It's a lot like a shorter version of starfox only more clever and stunning.

the rapid skiping of cut scenes is a big plus. hard to figure the plot without them tho, lol.

characters are kinda gay but blah.

Yeah, that's another thing. The article mentioned the wii has a virtual consol. a built in emulator..... I wonder if it'd be worth reverse engineering.

omg after beating normal finaly i dont think i'll try hard :) i'm gonna go back to starcraft for a while. less stress on these old paws.

lol an emulator on an emulator :)

naw because it'd have the correct codes in it to run all the games :)

uhg i just goofed something up. my sin and punishment wont run on directx mode now :/ the screne just stays black. i cant figure how to reset rice's plugin back to defaults. i deleted it and replaced all the files but the old setting were still there. is there an ini i can delete or are all the settings saved to reg keys or something?

i'm thinking they all go to reg keys because all the pj exe's will use the settings selected on all the other exe.

ack.

uh oh. i got it to work ish :) it's not all black anymore anyway. looks like i screwed with the debuger plugin. i thought it would just work as another plugin but looks like it alters the way rice's plugin works :/ that could be bad :)

No doubt - definitely one of the finest games ever made, much less one of the finest on the N64. It completely eludes me as to why it never left Japan. As far as your emulation woes, I'd advise against using Rice's plugin. It's outdated nowadays in comparison to Jabo's D3D8 or Glide64 with Glitch64 wrapper; they both have full hardware framebuffer effect support, which Sin and Punishment uses quite heavily.

Just an FYI: using a mouse + keyboard setup with NRage's input plugin enhances the gameplay exponentially.

hmmm i wonder what came first. technoman cartoon or this. same kind of plot. could have something to do with it.

that and it doesn't really fit a good buisiness model. no powerups etc. it really is kind of plain. the characters are pretty damn dumb lookin :)

the spider is cheap as hell. hate that spider >:[ blue lasers are pretty cheapo too.

the game has nice balance most of the time but it really is a bit short. it's more of a rent than an own. it wouldn't have done well in our market. great for emu tho.

the ending battle is too kool. i feel like my brother, he watched the ending to the movie "the knowing" for like a week straight with the stereo cranked; huge smile on his face :D

btw, where have i seen the same style planitoid distruction in a movie like the destruction at the end of sin/punnishment?

it just doesn't look as good as it used to for rice's plugin. and there is alot of slowdown with those two.

i think i'll just put n64 emulation on the back burner till it gets cooked enough :)

sigh.... why can't all emulators be as nice as zsnes.

It would help if I knew your system specifications. Without knowing them, there's a high chance that your speed issues are thanks to a slow computer, not the plugins themselves. On my 3GHz Core 2 and GeForce 9800GTX+ I don't have any speed issues with any plugin.

1ghz 2core and radion integrated. nothing special. it ran so much faster with rice's tho.

i get alot of chop out of starcraft also. i can turn off the fps limiter and play it at 500x speed but just cant play it at real time speed :/

i just dont see why it should take a 5ghz processor to run a nintendo 64 spec game :)
