n64 emulators and some games?

i want to know why project64 doesnt play some roms with the extension .z64 and why it can´t load some games and shows an error, is there a utility to make them work

i don't know where to download them, i have many n64 cartridges and i could own the roms as backups but where i download them don't say if its a good or bad dump

does any emulator runs diddy kong racing, or top gear rally, mace the dark age, castlevania 1, banjo kazooie and 1080º
